Chapter 88
“It’s not a short–form web series.”
Madeleine propped her head on her hand. “A novel.”
“Oh, a novel.”
Roy took the mop and went back to mopping. “I don’t like
reading novels. I just like watching those cheesy short–form
web series.”
Madeleine gave a dry laugh, inwardly cursing the novel’s author.
Are they even human, writing this kind of narrative control?
There was just one thing Madeleine didn’t understand. She had
been a disposable side character for Edward for years, helping
his career soar, so how was it that she was now left with only
the memories of an eighteen–year–old?
Was it because she was no longer valuable?
Or, had the novel been left unfinished?
Serves it right. No one would read this kind of stuff anyway.
Chapter 88
Madeleine thought for a moment. This was something she
could only tell Ricki.
But it seemed Ricki never read novels or watched short–form
web series. Would he even understand if she told him?
Whatever, I’ll educate him first.
The first thing Madeleine did after getting her new phone was
text Roderick and tell him to download Wattpad and ReelShort.
Roderick: ?
Madeleine didn’t say anything, just spammed him with a bunch
of novels and short–form web series.
Madeleine: Check these out to relax when you’re not busy.
Roderick’s inner monologue at that moment: My wife really
does have feelings for me. She’s worried I’m working too hard.
And so, for the next few days, Gerry could often hear strange
sounds coming from the CEO’s office, such as-
“Woman, you’re playing with fire!”
“In three minutes, I want all the information on this woman!”
Chapter 88
“The three–year period is up! Welcome back, Returning Warlord!
You used to ignore me, but now, I’m out of your league!”
Gerry scratched his head.
Is the CEO planning to invest in the film and television industry?
There was another reason Madeleine didn’t immediately tell
Roderick her suspicion: a faint worry in her heart.
In novels, a character’s awakening often leads to the collapse
of the original storyline.
She wasn’t sure if her current amnesia was a side effect of this
“awakening.”
If Roderick lost his memories along with her, wouldn’t they be totally screwed?
The boss of a multi–billion–dollar corporation would be a
reckless eighteen–year–old kid.
He’d drive the company into bankruptcy in minutes…
So before that, Madeleine had an idea: to see if
any

characters similar to her would appear.
At work these past few days, Madeleine still didn’t have any
important tasks, but with her good personality and generous
nature, she was getting along better and better with the other
secretaries in the office.
They were still cautious about letting her see confidential company documents, but Madeleine could understand.
My reputation as a villain was pretty solid, so it was normal that
I couldn’t shake it off so easily.
That morning, Madeleine was at her desk, busily stapling
documents, when Rebecca walked into the secretaries‘ office.
The four secretaries saw her and immediately stood up.
“Ms. Whitman.”
Teresa Cooper, Sophia Dunlap, and the other two looked at
each other. Ms. Whitman rarely came to see them directly.
What was going on today?
“Where’s Madeleine?”
“Chase is at the desk inside.”
Chapter 88
Rebecca beckoned with her finger. “Get her out here.”
This made the four of them even more nervous.
Ms. Whitman showing up out of nowhere, and asking for Chase
by her full name… what on earth happened!
?
λ.
She couldn’t be here to settle scores with Chase, could she?
Their relationship isn’t very good.
Should we secretly go tell Chase to slip out the back door first?
Madeleine had just finished stapling the documents and came
out before they could even call for her.
