Walking Away While Pregnant: Dear Ex-Husband, I Don't Love You Anymore novel Chapter 149

Chapter 149: Chapter 149

Trigger Warning: child abuse.

Fleur was already highly irritated, and hearing Robin’s complaint only made her think he was throwing a tantrum.

When she had gone next door to fetch him that afternoon, the boy had made a fuss about not wanting to come back with her. She had only held her temper because of the crowd, forcing herself to maintain her sweet mother persona, coaxing and pleading with him before he finally relented.

She had assumed that once she brought Robin back, Dylan would surely follow. Yet, despite her repeated calls, Dylan hadn’t picked up once.

Combined with Elise’s mocking words from earlier, the fury inside her burned hotter and hotter.

"Robin, I am going to say this one more time: get over here and eat," Fleur said, her tone hardening. "I don’t want to lose my temper. Get over here right now."

Robin was in agony. His stomach felt like it was violently churning—he was in sharp pain and desperately nauseous. "Mom, I really... I can’t eat."

"You can’t eat, or you just don’t want to eat with me?!"

Fleur snapped. She lunged across the room, grabbed Robin by the arm, and yanked him up from the sofa. "You’ve only been out here for a few days, and you’ve already forgotten who your real mother is! Robin, you are nothing but an ungrateful little wolf!"

Robin was pulled off balance, his pale little face draining of what little color it had left. His stomach rolled violently, and before he could stop it, he let out a weak retch and threw up.

"Ah!"

Caught completely off guard, Fleur was splattered with vomit. Screaming in disgust, she let go of him and leapt backward.

Losing his support, Robin fell directly off the sofa. His head hit the floor with a dull thud. Covered in mess, the little boy began to sob hysterically.

"My dress! Ah! Robin, you little brat!" Fleur shrieked in a frenzy. "Did you do that on purpose?! Ugh, this is disgusting! I am going out of my mind! You’re utterly useless to me, and all you do is torture me..."

Stamping her feet, she rushed into the bathroom.

Robin lay on the floor, crying his eyes out.

Inside the bathroom, Fleur turned on the shower, completely deaf to his weeping. Her only priority was scrubbing the filth off herself.

By the time she finished showering and changed into a clean dress, Robin’s crying had stopped. He was curled up on the floor, his tiny body trembling violently next to the pool of vomit. The room was filled with a foul, suffocating odor.

Fleur pinched her nose, looking down at him with sheer disgust. "Robin, the floor is filthy! Get up right now or, I swear to God, I’ll hit you!"

There was no answer.

Fleur frowned. She called his name a few more times, but he didn’t move. Only then did she realize something was seriously wrong. Swallowing her disgust, she stepped closer to check on him.

His face was flushed a deep, feverish red, and his breathing was shallow and rapid. She knelt down and pressed her hand to his forehead.

It was scalding. He had a raging fever.

Fleur gritted her teeth, muttering a curse under her breath. "Useless brat. You do nothing but cause me trouble. God, this is revolting..."

Still cursing, she dragged Robin into the bathroom.

"Stand up straight!" Fleur hissed, her face contorted with anger. "If you slip again, I’m leaving you on the floor!"

"If I wasn’t worried about what your father would say when he gets back, I wouldn’t bother with you! You ungrateful little traitor. I’m your mother, yet you cling to that Elise every single day! You stupid child... she has her own baby on the way. Once her own child is born, she won’t care about you, and your father won’t want you either..."

She ripped his soiled clothes off with brutal, clumsy tugs. Muttering curses, she turned on the shower.

Frigid water blasted down directly over Robin’s head.

"Ah!" Robin shrieked, shivering violently. "It’s freezing! The water is too cold—"

He began to thrash, splashing water everywhere and soaking Fleur’s newly changed dress all over again.

Losing the last of her sanity, Fleur raised her hand and slapped him hard across the back.

Smack!

The sharp crack echoed loudly against the tiled walls.

The blow sent Robin stumbling, and he fell hard onto the bathroom floor. The impact bruised his small frame, and his elbow scraped against the tile, drawing blood.
