He smiled and gently caressed my cheek. “You’re not,” he promised. “My mother makes her own choices. If she makes the wrong choice and helps Jess…well she’s going to have to deal with the consequences.” Alexander frowned. “My mother grew up rich. Then she married my father and married into his wealth. She’s never even had a real job. My mother isn’t used to the consequences of her own actions. This isn’t a problem that she can just throw money at.”
We were quiet for a few moments as we processed the heavy topic.
Alexander took my hands in his warm one, and just his touch made me feel lighter. But I still had my reservations about Alexander cutting off his family for me. I didn’t want to be the reason that he didn’t speak to them anymore.
As I stared at Alexander–focusing on the fiercely determined look in his eyes–my stomach plummeted.
The fiery look in his eyes reminded me of someone…someone who I hoped I would never see again.
My ex–husband. Ethan.
As soon as I had that thought, I pushed that feeling away. It wasn’t fair to compare the two men. Besides, Alexander was determined to protect me. I couldn’t fault him for that.
When it finally hit me that Alexander was willing to cut off his mother just to keep me safe, I leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to his mouth.
When I pulled away, I giggled at the surprise in his eyes. “What was that for?”
“A thank–you,” I said.
Alexander leaned forward to kiss me again, but I put a hand on his hard chest. “Not here,” I said and uneasily looked around the equipment that was meant for children.
Alexander agreed.
We walked back to the apartment building, the night seemingly drawing to a close. My eyes were heavy with exhaustion, but I didn’t want to say goodbye to him just yet.
“My half an hour is up,” Alexander said when we were by the door that led into the lobby. “Do

My legs trembled as I pictured him in my room, but I grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the parking garage.
We got into his car and drove around. Alexander headed down an empty side road surrounded by the woods. The area was slightly creepy and reminded me of the start of many horror films, but that was half the reason why it was thrilling.
When we passed by a parking lot of a state park, I pointed it out to Alexander.
“Park there.” I said and smirked.
He was eager to follow my directions.

As soon as Alexander took the keys out of the ignition, my skin tingled as the possibilities of being alone in a car with him in the middle of nowhere ran through my head. His body heat and manly scent invaded my senses, making anticipation curl in my lower body.
I didn’t think about what I did next. I just allowed my hormones to take over. I unclipped my seatbelt like it was on fire and jumped into Alexander’s lap. As I kissed him deeply, I straddled his waist and pressed my warm center against his hard length.
Alexander let out a loud groan as he threaded his fingers through my long hair. His hands gripped my hips, and he grinded me against dick. Our tongues danced together, and he tasted like beer and salt. That combination shouldn’t taste sensual, but in Alexander’s mouth, it did. He allowed me to be the dominant one this time. I kissed him hard and fierce like this was our last time to be together like this.
And with everything that was going on…maybe it was.
I intended to take advantage of every forbidden touch and stolen kiss.
We made out under the moonlight, our hands exploring each other’s slick bodies like we were memorizing every curve and dip. His mouth was just as demanding as mine. We were feral and animalistic, drunk on each other’s bodies.
Alexander’s searing touch made me feel even more lightheaded than the shots I took at dinner. I didn’t know if it was the full moon and dark woods above me that lowered my inhibitions or if it was my desire for Alexander that made me ravenous. It was probably a combination of both.
