Chapter 23
Hearing the end of it all, Amelia felt as if a heavy stone had been cast into her heart, stirring up waves within.
She had never expected that, from Elizabeth’s perspective, the story would be so completely different.
Though she was shocked, she did not believe everything she heard was the truth.
After all, love is like drinking water-only the one who tastes it knows if it is warm or cold.
If Julian truly liked her, would she really have been completely unaware?
So, faced with Elizabeth’s earnest persuasion and explanations, she remained silent for a while before responding.
“No matter whether his feelings for you are love, affection, or friendship, in my eyes, they are much deeper than what he ever felt for me as his ex-wife. The reason I wanted a divorce wasn’t entirely because of your appearance; it was also the accumulation of countless things, big and small, from the past that made me see the true nature of marriage and left me completely disappointed.”
Watching her calmly state the facts, Elizabeth was deeply moved as well.
All the advice she had yet to voice stopped at her lips.
Their gazes met in the air. Amelia looked at Elizabeth’s slightly reddened eyes and let out a soft sigh.
“In the end, this is a private matter between Julian and me. You are innocent and should never have been dragged into this. Now that our divorce is already a fact, if I, the one most involved, can let go and move on, what is there for you, an outsider, to be troubled about? Let everything go and live your own life well. Both you and I still have time to start over.”
Although the conversation had ended, Elizabeth’s emotions remained unsettled for a long time.
She sat alone in her seat for a long while before she finally understood the meaning behind Amelia’s words.
All that happened yesterday is as if it died yesterday.

Chapter 23
All that happens today is as if it is born today.
In an instant, the dark clouds that had gathered in her heart dispersed.
She stood up, walked to the next private room, and pushed open the door.

The room was extremely quiet. Seeing Julian leaning silently against the back of his chair, she softly called his name.
“Jules, are you alright?”
Every word of the conversation between the two women had reached Julian’s ears without missing a single detail.
He was not alright, but in front of Elizabeth, he suppressed all his emotions and pretended to be calm.
“I’m fine.”
There was a slight tremor in his voice, which Elizabeth quickly noticed.
She lowered her head, sat down across from him, and after a long pause, finally found a few words of comfort.
“I can understand how Lia feels. Although I don’t know what happened between you two in the past three years, I imagine she must have been very unhappy, which is why she wanted to end it all and start over. Jules, since she has let go of the past, you shouldn’t dwell on it either.”
Julian understood the reasoning in Elizabeth’s words as well as anyone could.
But he knew that all the pain and despair Amelia felt in their marriage came from him.
He was the one responsible for this outcome-what right did he have to talk about letting go?
No amount of comfort could make any difference to him.
He didn’t want Elizabeth to worry about him any longer, so he changed the subject and offered to take her home.
As they were about to part, Elizabeth asked him a question.
