Chapter 25
“Did you decide to get a divorce because you saw that photo album?”
Julian was the first to ask the question that had been troubling him.
Amelia did not hesitate and answered him honestly.
“Yes, and no. The thought had been there for a long time; the album was just the spark. Even if I hadn’t seen the album, one day, when I couldn’t take it anymore, I would have asked for a divorce anyway.”
Her resolute tone made Julian feel a fresh wave of guilt in his heart.
“I didn’t do well enough. You had so many complaints about me-why didn’t you tell me?”
Amelia glanced at him, her tone light and indifferent.
“Didn’t you also keep it from me that you liked Elizabeth? I was just imitating you, choosing silence as well.”
Seeing that she was still misunderstanding, Julian hurried to explain.
“I did like her, but that was a long time ago. After we got married, I was slowly letting her go, wanting to live a good life with
you…”
Amelia didn’t want to hear these powerless and empty words from him, so she cut him off directly.
“I don’t care when you let her go, and I don’t care whether you were sincere with me. Because it’s all in the past now. I don’t want to waste my energy on things that aren’t worth it. Do you understand what I mean?”
Looking into her clear and determined eyes, Julian could only swallow back all the explanations he had prepared for so long.
His hands were tightly clasped together, his knuckles turning pale from the force, and all that was left in his eyes was deep helplessness and gloom.
Amelia didn’t care at all about how he was feeling now.
She was just grateful that the world had quieted down again. She took out her headphones and

eye mask, preparing to get some rest.
The plane soared above St. Louis, gliding across the clouds.
The cabin quieted down. Julian turned his head, gazing at her peaceful sleeping face just inches away, and the storm of emotions in his heart gradually settled.
Since she was so resistant to talking about the past, he could only give up.
But that didn’t mean he was going to give up on her.
Two hours later, the plane landed at Eureka Springs Airport.
As Amelia pushed her luggage and was about to get in the car, she caught a glimpse of Julian standing behind her in the rearview mirror and couldn’t help but shoot him a sideways glance.
“Everything that needed to be said has already been said. Are you still going to keep pestering me?”
“It’s not really all clear yet. We just wiped the slate clean for everything after we got married. But there are still those seven years before and the rest of our lives ahead-don’t we still have things to talk about?”
“Isn’t it just that I had a crush on you for seven years, and after the divorce, we’ll each go our own way? What’s there to talk about?”
Julian looked at her quietly.
Even though they had been through so much together, seeing her now, the first thing that came to his mind was still the scene when she confessed to him for the first time.
Back then, he had gently turned down her feelings, thinking their story would end there.
Who would have thought that this story would continue for ten years without a final chapter.
Only this time, it was his turn to chase after her.
“The past is already set, but the future is uncertain, Lia. Don’t be so quick to make up your mind.”
After ten long years, hearing these words again left Amelia frozen in place.
She looked up at him standing in front of her with his hands behind his back, and the memories she had buried in her mind began to stir.
At dusk, on the square of Washington University in St. Louis, the warm yellow lights illuminated the hurried passersby.
