Chapter 140
Oliver’s POV
Aria frowned slightly, her delicate eyebrows knitting together as she
whispered two words I couldn’t quite catch.
I finally snapped out of my daze. “Aria, Cedar is our mommy–our real
mommy! I even did a DNA test!” I couldn’t contain my excitement despite trying to keep my voice down.
“Show me the test,” she extended her hand, expression suddenly
serious.
Who would believe this was the same girl who’d been diagnosed with
autism three years ago? The clarity in her voice startled me.
I lowered my voice, leaning in conspiratorially. “Listen, this has to.
stay between us, okay? We can’t let Grandma or Daddy know about
her. Cedar’s existence is supposed to be a secret… Hey, where are you
going?”
Before I could finish, Aria had already stood up and was walking
toward the door.

She paused briefly, her tightly pressed lips parting. “Finding Mommy.”
I stood there, dumbfounded.
Suddenly… I felt a twinge of regret. After telling Aria everything, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d just created competition for myself. Would there even be room for me at Mommy’s side anymore?
I stared in disbelief for a second before springing into action. My
short legs carried me forward as I hurried to catch up with her.
Just as we reached the doorway, Daisy pushed the door open.
“Aria, sweetie, it’s time for dinner,” she said with that fake smile I
hated.
Her appearance was like a cold draft sweeping through the room.
Aria’s features, which had just begun to relax, instantly tensed again.
In a heartbeat, she seemed to retreat back into herself.
Daisy bent down and picked Aria up, then turned to me. “Come along, Oliver. Let me take your hand downstairs.”
“No thanks!” I glared at her and scampered downstairs on my own. No way was I letting her touch me.

Cedar’s POV
The first–floor banquet hall blazed with light, buzzing with
conversation and the gentle clink of silverware.
The dinner party only had about twenty guests, arranged across three
tables. Aiden had practically dragged me to sit at the main table,
insisting I belong there.
This table was reserved for the Sterling family members.
Rachel Sterling occupied the head of the table, with Ridley seated to
her left. Further down sat the children, with me relegated to the very
end.
Sitting there, I couldn’t help but feel out of place. Throughout my
life, I’d grown accustomed to curious stares due to my unusual
background. But being at the Sterling family’s main table, with so
many family members scrutinizing me, I felt like a specimen under a microscope.
I could hear whispers from other Sterling relatives.
“Who is she anyway? Just a director from one of their subsidiaries-
how did she end up at the main table?”

“Look how Aiden adores her. That woman must be calculating to have
won him over so completely.”
