We Want Mommy, Not You, Daddy!
Chapter 141
Two empty seats remained at our table, clearly reserved for them.
“Daisy, is Oliver still upstairs? I haven’t seen him all evening,” Rachel
asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Didn’t Oliver come downstairs already? How strange,” Daisy looked
around. “Someone should go find him. Heaven forbid some stranger
sneaks in and takes him–that would be terrible.”
As she spoke, she deliberately glanced in my direction.
I paid her no attention.
At that moment, hearing the Sterling family repeatedly mention
“Oliver,” my heart suddenly plummeted. The Oliver they were talking
about… could it be my Oliver? He was indeed out today for his
grandmother’s birthday party.
My mind raced. No, that’s impossible. My Oliver’s last name is North,
and Ridley knows about him. If they were the same person, surely he
would have said something by now. The fact that he’s never
questioned the name means it’s just a coincidence… right?

Chapter 141
I shook my head, trying to dispel the unsettling thoughts creeping
into my mind.
“Grandmother, Oliver ate a whole box of chocolates before dinner,”
Aiden stood up and spoke with surprising formality for his age. “He
probably isn’t hungry and won’t join us. Today is your birthday
celebration–let’s not worry about him and start eating.”
“Very well, let’s begin,” Rachel commanded, and the servers promptly
began bringing out courses.
The table overflowed with exquisite dishes, most of which I’d never
even seen before. Some ingredients were so exotic that even after
tasting them, I couldn’t identify what they were made from.
“Miss Wright, this soup is delicious. Let me serve you some,” Aiden
said, taking my small bowl and carefully filling it with cream of
mushroom soup.
Watching his son’s attentiveness toward me, Ridley’s expression
darkened considerably. He glanced at my soup–filled bowl, his frown
deepening.
When I looked up, I noticed Rachel’s expression had cooled as well. I
found it strange–when I first met her, she seemed quite pleasant, but
now she appeared to harbor some hostility toward me too.

Chapter 141
Rachel set down her silverware and spoke softly. “Ridley, your thirty- first birthday is approaching. You’re not getting any younger. Isn’t it
time we addressed the matter of your marriage?”
With those words, the banquet hall fell silent.
As the head of this generation of the Sterling family, Ridley’s
marriage was a topic of interest to everyone present.
Even as an outsider, I unconsciously stopped eating, my lips pressing
together slightly.
“Ridley, even if you don’t wish to marry, think of the children. They
need a mother,” Rachel’s voice grew increasingly firm.
She paused, her fingers tightening around her wine glass. “I’ve been
patient for years. But today, on my birthday, I need to know–do you
have any plans for marriage at all?”
Ridley looked up, his tone flat. “I don’t wish to discuss this matter
now.”
“You’ve been avoiding this for years. You can’t keep running away,”
Rachel’s voice turned cold with frustration.
