Chapter 151
Cedar’s POV
My throat constricted as I forced myself to remain calm. “Hunter, you
were following Oliver, right? Where is he now?”
Hunter lowered his hand. “I’m sorry, Ms. Wright. I lost track of the
young master.” His normally confident tone had given way to
something closer to desperation. “I’m contacting Young Master Aiden
right now for assistance.”
I became confused. Hunter referred to Oliver as “young master” and
Aiden as “Young Master Aiden.” Were they connected somehow? Was
Hunter actually employed by the Sterling family? The questions
swirled in my head, but I couldn’t make sense of any of it right now.
“Hunter, tell me exactly where you last saw him,” Aiden’s voice cut
through the phone. “I’m sending people out immediately.”
About twenty minutes later, Aiden and Henderson arrived at my
apartment. Aiden’s usually composed expression had given way to
concern, though he was clearly trying to hide it from me.
“Try not to worry,” he said, his hand reaching for mine. “My people

are looking for him. We’ll find Oliver.”
I couldn’t sit still. My mind conjured a hundred different scenarios,
each worse than the last. I paced back and forth across my small living room, my eyes constantly darting to my phone. Oliver was out
there somewhere, alone and probably scared.
Aiden’s phone rang, and he answered immediately. “A taxi? To
Michigan Avenue?” His voice was suddenly all business. “Lock down
the entire mall. I’ll cover any losses. No one leaves until we find him.”
He hung up and turned to me, his expression softening slightly.
“Mommy, Oliver took a taxi to Water Tower Place. We’ll find him
soon.”
I shook my head, biting my lip. “Even when we find him, he might not
want to come back. He thinks I’m still angry with him.”
“Then we’ll go get him together,” Aiden said decisively. “He’ll listen to
us both.”
The drive to Water Tower Place felt interminable. Usually, knowing
Oliver was with Hunter helped case my worry when he pulled his
disappearing acts. But tonight was different. He had deliberately
evaded Hunter and was hiding somewhere alone.

Chapter 151
Oliver must have been devastated by our argument to go to such
lengths. The guilt twisted inside me like a knife.
Aiden sat beside me in the back seat, his little face unusually solemn.
“My people will find him,” he reassured me. “It’s better we found out
where he went before my father learns about this.”
I glanced at him curiously. There was something in his tone when he
mentioned Ridley–a hint of apprehension that seemed at odds with
his usual confidence.
Water Tower Place was still crowded despite the late hour. As we
entered, Aiden immediately took command of the security team with
an authority that belied his small stature.
“Lock down all exits,” he ordered, his childish voice firm. “Search
systematically, floor by floor. I want every corner checked.”
I paced anxiously by the central fountain as the search unfolded,
Minutes stretched into a half hour, with security guards reporting in
regularly–each time with the same disappointing news. No sign of
Oliver.
Aiden maintained his composure, but I noticed his stiff shoulders.
Henderson had gone to review security footage, returning with a grim
expression.
