Chapter 157
“R–Ridley Sterling.”
Good. She hadn’t completely lost her senses. She still recognized me.
“Are you certain you want me to take you right here?” I enunciated
each word deliberately.
Speaking so bluntly made me uncomfortable. I wasn’t a man driven by
physical desires. I’d never been with any woman during the past ten
years.
This was the first time I’d felt such urgent want. And now, with her
continuous provocation, any normal man would struggle to maintain
control…
Cedar blinked at me in confusion.
Her face displayed two completely contradictory emotions: drug-
induced desire and innocent bewilderment.
That combination of purity and passion was the most lethal temptation for any man.

“Cedar Wright, don’t say I didn’t warn you,” I growled, then moved to
the driver’s seat.
The car sped through the streets of Chicago, and within ten minutes,
we were pulling up at the entrance of a hotel. By then, Cedar had lost
all semblance of reason, lying half–clothed on the back seat, her body
flushed with heat.
I knew from experience that this type of drug would wear off once its
purpose was served. A hospital would only create a public spectacle-
the last thing she needed was to become tomorrow’s society gossip.
Her breathing was rapid but steady. This was something I could
handle discreetly.
Seeing her like that nearly broke my resolve. I wrapped her in my suit
jacket and carried her into the hotel.
“One king suite,” I said coldly, tossing my platinum card onto the
counter.
The young receptionist flinched at my tone, hastily processing the
check–in and nervously handing over the key card.
Cedar clung to me like a lifeless doll as I carried her to the elevator.
Her face was flushed, eyes half–closed, her clothes in disarray.

No man could remain unaffected by such a sight.
“Cedar. Wright.” I spoke through gritted teeth, my desire to have her
then and there almost overwhelming.
If she hadn’t been covered in grime from rolling.around on the damp
warehouse floor, I might have given in the moment we entered the
room.
I carried her into the bathroom with one arm and filled the tub with
warm water.
“Let go. You need to clean up first,” I commanded, my voice taut with
restraint.
Cedar completely missed the suppressed desire in my tone. She shook
her head frantically. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I feel so
strange… Ridley…”
Her voice was somewhere between a plea and a whimper, innocent
confusion mixed with raw need.
I nearly shattered.
Drawing a deep breath, I tilted her chin up. “Tell me what you want
me to do for you…”

My voice had lost its usual coldness and detachment, filled instead
with something I couldn’t define.
Cedar’s hands wandered aimlessly until they found the waistband of
my trousers.
“Not so fast. Bath first.” It took every ounce of willpower not to give
in to her unspoken request.
I caught her restless hands and lowered her into the bathtub. Her back was covered in damp moss from the warehouse floor; her lower leg was injured, with her knee scraped and bleeding slightly.
Silently, I washed her clean and applied antiseptic to her wounds.
God knows, in all my years, I’d never bathed anyone–not even my
two sons.
This woman repeatedly pushed me beyond my limits.
I must have gone mad.
My irritation made my touch rougher than intended.
Cedar cried out, “It hurts! Please don’t hit me… I’m sorry, I won’t do it
again…”
