Chapter 219
Ethan’s POV
After Ridley left his office, I remained frozen in the chair, unable to
move. Twenty–six years of memories flooded my mind–Emma, whom
I’d always considered my sister, and Cedar, whom I’d only recently
met. Their identities had been completely reversed.
With shaking hands, I took out my phone and called my father.
Despite my parents being busy with a major project in Europe, this
couldn’t wait.
“Ethan? Is something wrong?” My father Owen Pierce’s voice came
through from across the Atlantic.
“Dad, I need both you and Mom on the call. There’s something
important we need to discuss.”
After explaining everything to my parents, a long silence followed.
“Are you sure this information is reliable?” My father finally spoke,
his voice uncharacteristically hoarse.
“The DNA test results are conclusive, and there are hospital records

and eyewitness accounts. Ridley’s investigation was thorough.”
“Oh my God…” My mother began to sob. “Our child… all these
years…”
“We must bring her back into our family,” my father said firmly.
“Cedar is our biological daughter. We’ve been deprived of twenty–six
years of loving and caring for her.”
“What about Emma?” I couldn’t help asking. “She’s still our family,
even without a blood connection.”
“Of course, Emma has nothing to do with the child switching,” my
father said resolutely. “All of this should be blamed on that maid, and
my negligence… Regardless of blood, we raised her, and she’s our
child. Now we just… have another daughter in our family.”
“We’ll arrange to come home soon,” my mother said urgently. “I want
to meet Cedar. We owe her so much.”
“Give me a few days,” I said. “I’ll tell Cedar the details first. And she’ll
need time to process it.”
After hanging up, I sat in Ridley’s office, my mind racing. Emma had always been a sweet, sensible girl, and Cedar… despite all her
suffering in the Wright household, she had maintained her kindness

and resilience. The power of genetics was remarkable–she carried
Pierce blood and exhibited qualities so similar to our family.
I decided to wait until Cedar finished work before telling her the
truth. News of this magnitude needed to be delivered in a private,
undisturbed setting.
As evening fell, I parked outside Nest Design, waiting for Cedar to
appear. When she walked out, I immediately recognized her–looking
at her now, she did bear a striking resemblance to my mother’s
younger photos.
“Cedar!” I called out, approaching her.
She turned, clearly surprised to see me. “Ethan? What are you doing
here?”
“I need to talk to you about something important,” I tried to maintain
my composure. “Do you have some time?”
She hesitated briefly before nodding. I escorted her to my car and
drove to a quiet café downtown. We barely spoke during the ride, an
unusual tension filling the air.

In the most secluded corner of the café, we sat facing each other.
Cedar’s eyes were full of questions. “Has something happened?”
“Cedar, Ridley had told me everything. We’re siblings, right? And I
need to tell you something… about your birth, I took a deep breath.
“Today, Ridley called me in for a conversation. He informed me that
twenty–six years ago, at the hospital where you and Emma were born,
there was an incident involving switched babies.”
“I know… Ridley Showed me the DNA results. But a baby switch? How
could that happen?”
I slowly and clearly explained the entire investigation, including the maid’s vengeful actions, and the switch in the nursery. When I said,
“You are actually the biological daughter of the Pierce family,” Cedar’s
eyes began to well up with tears, and my heart ached for her.
“I’m the real Pierce daughter…” she whispered.
“Yes, Cedar,” I said gently. “You’re my biological sister, the daughter of
Owen and Elizabeth Pierce. Our parents know about this now, and
they’re arranging to return to the country to meet you.”
Tears silently streamed down her face. “So I wasn’t abandoned… ?”
“No,” I reached across the table to hold her cold hands. “I’m so sorry.

“Not yet. But regardless, Emma will still be part of the Pierce family.
She was innocent. We raised her and love her as our own. Now we
just… have you back in our family too.”
“I understand. Emma was a nice girl. I don’t blame her. I’ll just see her
as my sister.”
“Cedar, I’m so glad you feel that way.”
By the time we left the café, night had fallen.
“Would you like to have dinner with me?” I asked.
“No, the kids might be waiting for me.”
“So you’re at Ridley’s now? He told me about the arrangement with
the children. Everything going smoothly?”
Cedar gave a sad smile. “Yes. I’m temporarily living there to care for
his children. Everything is good.”
I nodded, not wanting to pry further.
“Let me drive you home,” I offered.
“Thank you.”

When we pulled up in front of the Sterling mansion, Cedar hesitated.
“Ethan, please give me some time to adjust. I need to think about how
to face Emma, how to handle my relationship with the Wright
family…”
“Of course, take all the time you need,” I said softly. “But remember,
no matter when, the doors of the Pierce family are always open to
you. You’ve finally come home, Cedar.”
She nodded and walked toward the imposing mansion. I sat in my car
for a long while, imagining her complex emotions and the entirely
new life awaiting her.
