Julius frowned, his brow furrowing in confusion.
"A tower?" the Qilin prince demanded. "Sorry Ren, but your wooden monoliths were almost completely useless against the Platinum mutants. They were already at their most efficient mana output, right? And they snapped them like twigs... What tower will hold?"
"This one will."
Ren reached into the huge void of his shadow space. He didn’t pull out a stone frame or a wooden root system.
He pulled out the very tip of a mountain.
It was the exact same colossal spike of pseudo-mythic-metal he had forged and weaponized as a giant hammer to execute the Fire Dragon. It was a monolithic block of hyper-enhanced material boasting a physical resistance that slightly exceeded Diamond-density mana. It was practically adamantium level.
He had forged this monstrosity using every single trick in his vast arsenal. He had simultaneously used the crystals, rings, runes and channeled forty percent of his total triple-fusion output into the spell, then forcefully extracted the densest mineral crystals and bedrock available in the Fire zone of the Diamond ring.
He had compressed and alloyed the elements until they became something entirely new, a substance almost unbreakable that not even the concentrated heat of a true Fire Dragon had managed to melt it.
"This construct successfully restrained a guardian that raised its internal temperature high enough to liquefy Diamond rank mana enhanced stone," Ren explained rapidly, his eyes scanning the battlefield as he visualized the architectural blueprints in his head.
"This block I used as a hammer can serve as the primary chassis for a defensive tower. Even if I only have one of them, a monolith built from this specific alloy can permanently dam the flow of mutants right here. All I have to do is tap into the major mana vein running beneath Yino Castle to power its runes. The new Platinum mutant beasts might possess incredible brute strength and elemental control, but they are absolutely never going to punch through this. I will plant it directly in front of the horde. They won’t advance another inch."
Despite their crushing exhaustion, Min and Taro nearly cheered out loud.
But Selphira raised a hand, cutting through the celebration.
"Wait."
Her mind was already ahead.
"If you only have the materials to construct a single indestructible tower, do not plant it here on the perimeter."
Ren blinked, turning to look at her.
"Plant it directly in front of the castle," Selphira offered, her voice ringing with absolute certainty. "If breaching the castle is their primary objective, if that is what they are relentlessly sacrificing millions of lives to reach... then we need to physically blockade the entrance itself. If you drop an impenetrable wall right here in the funneled wall, Selthia might simply command the swarm to stop pushing forward and instead order them to tear down the rest of our perimeter to flank us."
She pointed a finger toward the towering Yino Castle to their backs in the distance.
"If they realize they absolutely cannot enter the castle, they cannot execute whatever dark objective they came here for. Damming the flow out here, a few miles away from the target, is tactically useless if they eventually manage to slip through the rubble and breach the courtyard from the sides. But a monolithic tower made of that unbreakable material, wedged directly into the castle’s throat..."
She left the sentence hanging. The implication was glaringly obvious.
