There was a second, far more subtle reason this redeployment was even possible.
The vast majority of the outer perimeter was not facing the suffocating volume of Platinum mutants that Taro’s sector was currently enduring. The flanks were only dealing with sporadic, isolated Platinums mixed into seas of some Golds with mostly silver fodder.
They were nuisance attacks, scattered pressure points designed solely to break Ren’s towers and paralyze the Vanguard and prevent the commanders from grouping up.
The defensive grid was holding entirely because the sister cities now boasted a massive, highly competent middle class of high-tier Gold Tamers. These young soldiers were holding the line using the exact same optimized cultivation methods Ren had freely donated to the public and all other academies years ago. The seeds of his generosity had finally blossomed into an army capable of surviving this level of enemy.
The true, overwhelming push, the bigger concentration of Platinum horrors, was focused entirely on this exact coordinate, aiming straight for Yino Castle.
Now that High Command fully understood Selthia’s true objective, they could afford to stop fighting blind. They no longer needed to spread all their strongest pieces dangerously thin across the entire continent. They could consolidate some of their remaining firepower exactly where it was needed most.
And so, the heavy cavalry arrived.
Even Yang managed to break away from the subterranean trenches.
His original assignment had him anchoring the underground grid near Victor’s old sector. With the line consolidated, he found the margin to surface. And Yang’s arrival was not merely a minor boost.
When his boots hit the stone, the earth groaned. His signature fusion, a breathtaking amalgamation of a heavy-plated Stone Behemoth and his towering Royal Gold Treant, was an absolute spectacle of destruction.
In practical combat terms, Yang 2 cloned beasts had mutated into the mana-biological equivalent of one of Ren’s autonomous wooden towers, only this ones operated at Platinum rank power level.
He was a living, breathing mountain of impenetrable iron-stone, interwoven with indestructible golden muscle and thick, golden metallic roots. He stepped into the breach and simply refused to yield, catching the charge of three Platinum mutants simultaneously. He possessed the sheer, immovable density of a fortress, completely equipped with its own crushing will.
Yang’s fusion wasn’t forged from the impossible adamantium Ren was about to build. It lacked that logic-defying, elemental resistance.
But it was more than enough to act as a physical dam. He was exactly what the bleeding frontline desperately required: a towering, unyielding mass capable of plugging the gaping hole Ren was about to leave behind.
And flanking him was Lin. She needed absolutely no introduction.
Lin had already proven her lethality long ago, casually dissecting low-tier Platinum beasts entirely on her own during the nightmare descent into Sirius’s chasm.
She was the Vanguard’s ultimate wild card.
She operated as a flawless support executioner, capable of seamlessly plugging into whatever gap the frontline exposed, reinforcing failing walls, and holding her ground against almost any horror the corruption threw her way.
With her powerful presence entering the fray, the containment line suddenly possessed a margin of error that simply hadn’t existed some minutes ago.
♢♢♢♢

For the very first time since he had dropped from the sky, Ren looked at his friends and felt the answer to the suffocating question, ’can they survive without me for ten minutes?’ was a definitive yes.
