Chapter 1213: Chapter 1213 - Taming the Old World - Flawed Star

Luna grabbed his shoulders first, Larissa secured his back and Liora caught his legs. Operating with flawless synchronization, the three women completely arrested his freefall.

They lowered him gently, carefully resting his battered, unconscious body across their six intertwined arms, directly on top of the hyper-compressed stone he had just merged.

They had severed their fusion the second they arrived at the epicenter, having watched him from below as he poured his soul into sealing the final breach of the massive, castle size, awe-inspiring dome.

Luna had briefly left her convulsing father draped across the broad back of her shadow wolf to help secure Ren.

Ren was breathing steadily despite everything. The crystals had miraculously halted their advance just outside his core system. He was still functional and his mana had just small flow problems.

"This again," Larissa murmured softly, gently cradling the back of his head, her analytical eyes scanning his vitals. "Our angel is always falling out of the sky..."

"Good thing we are always right here to catch him," Liora replied, though her voice trembled noticeably.

Luna didn’t speak. She just pressed her fingers against his chest, searching for a pulse. Finding the steady, reassuring beat beneath his skin, she finally released a long, shaky breath she felt she had been holding since she saw him plummet from the clouds...

But the overwhelming relief was instantly shattered by a terrifying realization. Now, absolutely no one possessed the expertise to help her father.

They had rushed Sirius to the epicenter, using Luna’s shadow wolf as a makeshift stretcher.

The logic had been decently sound: close the distance to Ren immediately in case the boy genius could offer a sliver of guidance, an idea blueprint, or shout them any method to halt the spreading infection. But by the time the shadow wolf reached the perimeter of the newly forged star-prison, Ren was completely unconscious, and he wasn’t going to be offering advice to anyone for quite some time.

The thick, pulsing veins crawling up Sirius’s neck were no longer a toxic purple.

They had turned pitch black.

♢♢♢♢

The monolithic star-prison stood absolute and unyielding before the vanguard, completely ignoring the faint, rhythmic tremors that occasionally rattled its foundations.

Deep inside the hyper-compressed chamber, the trapped dragon roared furiously against walls that simply refused to answer. The five sovereign cores maintained their flawless, synchronized orbit atop their respective pillars around the dome’s perimeter, continuously broadcasting the canceling frequency weakening the beast within. The corruption’s ultimate prize was permanently sealed deep beneath the bedrock. The surface of the courtyard fell completely silent for the very first time in hours.

Liu arrived shortly after, leading the battered remnants of the Vanguard strike force.

The girls had aggressively sprinted ahead to secure Ren; the rest of the elites had followed as quickly as their exhausted beasts would carry them. The exact second Liu laid eyes on Sirius convulsing violently atop the shadow wolf, the quiet tamer didn’t hesitate or ask for permission.

He vaulted onto the wolf’s back, slammed his hand flat against the older man’s chest, and seamlessly synchronized with his Wendigo. He immediately initiated the exact desperate maneuver he had perfected in the crucible of this battle: aggressively absorbing the corruption directly into his own system.

The corruption had grown terrifyingly dense. When Liu clamped his hand down and yanked on the ether, the energy fiercely resisted the extraction. The quiet tamer ground his teeth together until his jaw ached, fighting a desperate internal tug-of-war.

He finally managed to tear a fraction of the poison away, a thick, agonizingly cold black thread that immediately slithered into his own system, forcefully darkening his aura.

But it wasn’t even remotely enough.

Perhaps, Liu thought, desperately analyzing his failing runic parameters, he could stabilize the extraction if he...
