The entity pushed back. It forcefully exerted its absolute dominion over the host’s nervous system.
Nothing happened...
And in that fleeting window of hesitation, Sirius seized absolute control of his own jaw.
"Luna." The tamer gasped, fighting for every single syllable as his jaw trembled strongly. "Execute me... Right now!"
"No!" Luna was already sobbing, tears cutting clean tracks through the ash on her porcelain cheeks. "No, Dad, I am absolutely not going to..."
"I cannot hold the line for much longer." A brutal spasm racked his torso, the thick, black veins pulsing dangerously close to his eyes. "Do it before it...!"
Watching the man fight a losing war, Liu forced his system deeper into the abyss.
He aggressively redlined his blood-absorption affinity. Fused completely with his beast, and the second Wendigo lunged forward, desperately draining the ether alongside Liu. The corruption poured into the young tamer in a painful torrent. Liu unleashed a raw, agonizing howl as the creeping shadow of the poison violently swallowed him up to his neck, but he stubbornly held the line.
He allowed his own soul to rot a fraction further and endured the agony, forcefully ripping vastly more poison out of Sirius than his biological system was ever engineered to contain.
It helped but still wasn’t enough to break the entity’s grip.
Sirius felt the cruel reality. He saw the impending failure written plainly across the young man’s agonizingly pale face. "Your power isn’t enough," Sirius gasped, his lungs burning. "Liu, stop..."
But Luna was watching the exchange.
She wasn’t just staring blindly in terror; she was truly watching, emulating Ren’s flawless tactical analysis, dissecting the movements in the ether result of the internal battlefield even as tears blurred her common vision. And at some critical juncture, watching Liu aggressively siphon the rot, she finally grasped the underlying mechanics.
She didn’t understand the entire blueprint, but she comprehended enough... She desperately reached her trembling hand out toward her father, toward her wolf, not entirely certain what kind of command she was about to issue...
But her shadow wolf understood the assignment first.
The colossal beast of shadows violently twisted its massive neck. It shook its broad back, forcefully throwing Sirius onto the cobblestones. Before anyone could scream, before Luna could utter a single syllable of command, the massive wolf lunged downward and clamped its jaws directly over the veteran’s torso.
But it did not crush his ribs.
The terrifying fangs barely broke the skin. It was an incredibly precise surgical incision. Because the shadow wolf had not bitten down to execute the man; it had bitten down to consume something else entirely.
The sovereign devourer forcefully inhaled the corrupted energy through those small wounds, aggressively siphoning the rot directly from Sirius’s system into Luna’s. And with every single invisible mouthful of poison it swallowed, the wolf physically expanded, the suffocating shadows violently swelling around its jaws.
The corruption shrieked.
"How profoundly irritating you all are," it hissed, utilizing Sirius’s vocal cords again while it possessed the bandwidth. "Go ahead then, reclaim back this pathetic puppet by forcefully ripping yourselves open... It matters very little."
The wolf pulled harder.
The alien voice began to fade.
"But you will never permanently eradicate me! Do you truly not comprehend the architecture of your internal world yet? There will always be a microscopic fracture. In your system, in his, in every single mortal vessel that has ever dared to touch me. A hairline seam where the two halves were forcefully glued together but never truly fused. That is the door to my domain." A chilling, fading laugh echoed from the veteran’s lips. "And recklessly dividing my essence among yourselves merely hands me the key to more new doors. Every single one of you currently carrying a fraction of my weight... is simply another home I can one day casually walk into!"
Sirius’s torso violently arched backward. The cosmic energy was rapidly bleeding out of him.
"You will profoundly regret this, you will regret standing in my path and you will regret actively rejecting the magnificent, sweet prize I so generously offered to bestow upon you!" The voice had deteriorated into a barely audible whisper. "A flawless, perfect existence... Absolute eternity. And you pathetic creatures chose... this!"
And then, it was over.
The energy levels within Sirius’s core plummeted below the critical threshold required to sustain the entity’s consciousness. The veteran regained absolute control over his entire body, his system, and his mouth. His eyes instantly reverted to their normal, exhausted state.
He took a massive, gasping breath of the air, like a drowning man finally breaking the surface.

’So this is the agony Ren silently endures,’ she thought, a profound wave of devastating realization washing over her. ’And he had carried a volume astronomically larger than this many times. Dealing with a similar yet bigger scar every single second of every single day.’
