A quiet Italian restaurant.
Chapter 232
Kaia pushed open the glass doors. The warm glow of the evening sun spilled through the windows, casting a heavy, rich ambiance over the dark wooden floors.
“Kaia!” Silas was sitting by the window. Beside him sat a woman with a sleek, short haircut, dressed in a simple black gown.
Kaia was slightly surprised when she saw Seraphina. Despite her short brown hair, she carried herself with an incredible elegance. Her features were clean and striking, her soft jawline bearing a resemblance to Silas.
“Seraphina, this is Kaia. You’ve probably seen her pictures,” Silas introduced immediately.
“It’s wonderful to meet you, Seraphina. I’m Kaia.” Kaia offered a polite smile and shook the hand Seraphina extended to her.
“Silas talks about you all the time. He says you’re a tech genius. It’s great to finally meet you in person,” Seraphina said, her voice pleasantly low and soothing.
Kaia couldn’t hide her surprise. The bubbly, carefree teenage voice from the videos felt worlds apart from the sophisticated woman sitting in front of her.
The voice in the footage had been full of innocent, unburdened youth.
“You rarely visit, so we haven’t had the chance to cross paths,” Kaia replied with a smile.
The three of them chatted casually as the food arrived. Kaia learned that Seraphina was currently taking a break, traveling the world with a close group of friends and pursuing extreme sports. As Seraphina put it, either her body or her soul needed to be free.

Kaia completely agreed with that sentiment. The Sanders family’s wealth gave Seraphina the freedom to do whatever she pleased. She never had to work; her only job was to experience life to the fullest.
Silas was much quieter, only chiming in to remind his sister to pace herself with the wine.
“Silas told me you’ve been watching the videos I took back then. Kaia, I’m so sorry. Did they hurt you? I already yelled at him for being so reckless,” Seraphina said, shooting a sharp glare at her brother.
Silas shrugged innocently. “We all know the hidden secrets going on behind the scenes. Kaia is a victim in all this. I just wanted her to wake up and fight back instead of letting herself be mentally drained.”
Kaia spoke up softly. “I asked him to show them to me, Seraphina. Please don’t be mad at him.”
“There’s nothing good to see,” Seraphina sighed, rubbing her forehead. A faint shadow of melancholy crossed her face. “She’s an expert at using her supposed fragility. She plays the innocent victim, and it’s practically an art form etched into her bones. She never breaks character.”
“She’s manipulative to the core. The only reason she’s addicted to the act is because no one has ever exposed her,” Silas scoffed, his handsome face turning cold.
Seraphina swirled her wine, watching the ripples against the glass with a self-deprecating smile. “I had a front-row seat to her rise. She used that sweet, obedient act to inch her way into the Sanders family, weaving herself into everyone’s lives. The other girls and I were no match for her. She made us look spoiled and unreasonable by comparison. The adults always compared us to her, and I always came up short.”
Silas clenched his fists.
Kaia found herself resonating deeply with those words. Noelle had crafted an image so flawless that even when you knew she was wrong, you couldn’t prove it.
Chapter 232
“She had two of the Sanders men eating out of the palm of her hand, but that wasn’t enough for her. She even went after my sister’s boyfriend. It’s disgusting.” The veins on the back of Silas’s hands bulged as he recalled the past.
Kaia looked at Seraphina in shock.
Seraphina forced a bitter smile. “When I was nineteen, I met Jasper. I wanted to be a designer, and he dreamed of becoming an architect. It was love at first sight. He was five years older, mature, and incredibly handsome. One day, I brought him to dinner with Noelle. I found out later that they had exchanged contact info behind my back. Jasper started waiting for her outside her university classes every night…”
Silas let out a harsh laugh. “Jasper invited Noelle to his apartment and nearly got her into bed. She called Rafael crying for help. When he got there, he claimed her clothes were practically torn off. Jasper was beaten and sent to prison for three years. When my sister found out, she attempted suicide and ended up in the hospital. After that, Noelle claimed she was traumatized and spent months in therapy. That was when she started avoiding my sister, and eventually, our entire side of the family.”
Silas turned his head away, unable to hide his disgust.
Kaia’s heart pounded in her chest. She had never imagined the story went this deep.
She had been part of the Sanders family for seven years, yet this was the first time she was hearing of this scandal.
“No… she did come to see me,” Seraphina’s calm voice broke the silence.
