Chapter 331

“Mr. Sanders…” Simon Quinn immediately stood up. In that moment, he felt a twinge of guilt.

Even knowing that Kaia and Finnian’s relationship was on the rocks and a divorce was looming, they were still legally married.

“Mr. Quinn, thank you for looking after my wife

and daughter,” Finnian Sanders said with

Simon’s handsome face flushed with embarrassment.

Kaia Chavez despised Finnian’s passive-aggressive tone. “Simon, you should head back first/ she interjected smoothly. “Safe travels.”

Simon glanced at Kaia, nodded, and turned to Finnian. “Mr. Sanders, I’ll take my leave.”

As Simon brushed past Finnian’s shoulder, Finnian’s voice stopped him. “Mr. Quinn, I hope you understand boundaries. After all, constantly seeking opportunities to meet another man’s wife is hardly ethical.”

“Finnian…” Kaia’s voice dropped into a warning tone.

A smile played on Finnian’s lips, though it did he

reach his predatory gaze.

Simon halted. He looked Finnian dead in the eye. “I might need to reflect on my actions, but doesn’t Mr. Sanders need to do the same?”

The smile froze on Finnian’s face. He believed every on he made

“You might want to make yourself clearer,” Finnianed, his somber gaze bearing

down on Simon with heavy pressure.

Simon wanted to snap back, but seeing the color drain from Kaia’s face, he swallowed his words. “My apologies. I hope this hasn’t caused any misunderstandings. Kaia and I are strictly friends.”

“Right. I believe you,” Finnian replied, his smile completely devoid of warmth.

Having no reason to stay, Simon clenched his jaw and strode toward the elevator.

Kaia tried to walk past Finnian, but he extended an arm, blocking her path in the garden. His eyes darkened with possessiveness. “Are you mad?”

Kaia glared at him with cold fury. “Who gave

you the right to talk to my friend like that?”

Finnian’s façade crumbled. His voice deepened. “Even though we signed the Marital Separation Agreement, you still need to observe certain boundaries. I only stepped in so Brynlee wouldn’t be put in an awkward position.”

Kaia scoffed at his attempt to use their daughter as a shield. “Don’t be so shameless. You can do whatever you want, but the moment I do the same, it’s a crime? What exactly are your standards, Finnian?”

Finnian frowned. “Kaia, Mr. Quinn works for the government. In the eyes of the public, you are still my wife. Getting too close to him isn’t good for his reputation either.”

Kaia froze. She was never going to out-talk Finnian. He could twist the truth effortlessly, manipulating any negotiation until he got his way.

Thanks for the reminder. I’ll keep my distance,” she replied, completely exhausted by the argument.

Just then, the door swung open. Brynlee Sanders had woken from her nap and came looking for her mom. When she saw Finnian, she rubbed her eyes, thinking she was dreaming.

Dad… are you really here?” Brynlee squealed, throwing herself into Finnian’s arms and hugging him tight. “This is awesome! I was just about to call you!”

Finnian scooped his daughter up and glanced at Kaia. “My room is right next to yours. I’ll take Brynlee over for a bit.”

Seeing the pure joy radiating from her daughter’s face, Kaia swallowed the bitter words on her tongue.

‘Fine,” she muttered, pushing open the door to her own room.
