Whats She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 383

Chapter 383

Kaia hadn’t expected Finnian to have the nerve to make a request.

“If Mr. Sanders wants a drink, he can have his assistant deliver it. I-”

“Dexter didn’t come. I drove myself,” Finnian cut in quickly. “Thanks in advance.”

Kaia parted her lips, then shut him down flatly. “Sorry, I can’t help you with that.”

Listening to their exchange, Simon’s expression shifted slightly.

Finnian was taken aback by how bluntly Kaia refused him. It was just a cup of coffee. It was on her way, yet she was entirely unwilling.

“Then how about I go get them for you?” Finnian stood up, deciding to run the errand himself.

“Sure. Thanks, Mr. Sanders. I’ll take a Latte, and he wants an Iced Americano,” Kaia replied without missing a beat.

Simon felt a bit awkward and quickly interjected, “Maybe I should just go.” “No need,” Finnian said coldly. “I’ll do it.”

He turned and walked away, his footsteps feeling impossibly heavy. In this little group, he was the blatant third wheel.

Kaia ignored his retreating figure, her expression growing even more detached.

Simon chuckled softly. “Kaia, do you think Mr. Sanders is angry?”

“What does he have to be angry about? He’s the one who was late, he’s the one who broke his promise, and he’s the one who offered to buy coffee,” Kaia said, completely unconcerned with Finnian’s mood.

and Mr. Sanders… really reached that point?”

Kaia looked at her daughter in the distance, her voice quiet. “We probably can’t divorce just yet. Her condition requires both of us to care for her. But once she’s cured, we’ll definitely take that step.”

Simon looked surprised. “Did you not do the screenings when you were pregnant with Brynlee? How did…”

“I did all the necessary tests, but… accidents happen,” Kaia said bitterly. “Thankfully, surgery can fix it. That’s a blessing.”

Simon nodded. “True. As long as she gets better, any sacrifice a parent makes is worth it.”

“Yeah.” Kaia’s gaze on her daughter was soft yet resolute.

Finnian returned with three cups of coffee. It was nearing noon, so Kaia decided to take Brynlee to her parents’ house for lunch. It was time for Simon to take Anna home, too.

Holding his own cup, Finnian trailed behind the mother and daughter. At the school gates, Simon bid Kaia goodbye.

Kaia held Brynlee’s hand and waved at him, while Finnian stood off to the side, his dark eyes narrowing dangerously,

“Let’s go, Brynlee,” Kaia murmured.

Brynlee immediately grabbed Finnian’s large hand. “Dad, are we taking your car?”

Finnian shot Kaia a complex look. “It’s been a while since I visited your parents. I’ll join you for lunch.”

Kaia wanted to refuse, but Brynlee was looking up at them with a face full of anticipation.

“Fine. I’ll take her first. You drive yourself,” Kaia finally relented.

Finnian nodded. “Alright.”

Brynlee rode with Kaia to the Chavez residence. It was early September, and the sunlight was perfect.

In the courtyard, Jane and the housekeeper were busy cooking lunch. The clatter of spatulas and the smell of food gave the home a warm, lived-in feel. Warren Chavez was sitting in the yard getting some sun and teasing his pet bird. When he saw Kaia’s car pull up, he quickly stood up.

“Grandpa!” Brynlee had missed her family terribly during her trip. She ran over as fast as her little legs could carry her.

Warren scooped her into his arms. Seeing that she had gained a little weight on her vacation, he knew she had a wonderful time.
