Chapter 426
Kaia shook her head. “I’m not much of a drinker. Water is fine “
Simon nodded. “Next time, then. I have a few excellent bottles of wine at home. I’ll bring some over for you to try when you have the time.”
“Sounds great. We can invite Celine too. She loves wine.” Kaia missed the underlying flirtation entirely. casually agreeing.
After finishing dinner, Kaia and Simon went their separate ways. Since Kaia was passing by Celine’s design studio, she gave her a call. Learning that Celine was still stuck working, Kaia decided to drop off some takeout.
“Kaia, you’re an angel! Not only are you not mad at me, but you also brought me food! I love you!” Celine rushed over and enveloped her in a hug, acting like a spoiled cat.
Kaia rolled her eyes playfully and pushed her away. “Hurry up and eat. It’s all your favorites.” “Thank you! I swear, if I were a guy, I’d marry you in a heartbeat. I would never let a jerk like Finnian have you.” Celine ranted as she tore into the packaging. The aroma of the food hit her, and she took a deep sniff. “Smells amazing. I am starving.”
Kaia wandered into the showroom outside the office, admiring Celine’s latest designs. The pieces were uniquely elegant and stunning. Just looking at them was a visual treat.
Celine trailed behind her, carrying her food container. “See anything you like? Pick one, it’s yours. Once you’re officially divorced, you need to stop dressing so plain. You’re young and gorgeous–flaunt it while you can.”
Kaia turned around, laughing. “If I dress too nicely, I feel too self–conscious to even step out the door.”
“I know, you’ve got some weird complex about drawing attention. You need to get over that.” Celine understood her mindset perfectly.
Kaia looked down, contemplating for a moment. Then, she reached out and lightly brushed her fingers against a bold, vibrant magenta evening gown. “You’re right. I shouldn’t box myself in so strictly. I need to be brave enough to try new things. I deserve to feel beautiful without apologizing for it.”
“Yes! Exactly! Know your worth!” Celine gave her an enthusiastic thumbs–up. “We women need to put ourselves first. If you have 100 percent of your love, give 80 percent to yourself and throw the scraps to the guys. You always acted like you weren’t good enough for Finnian, and look what happened. You put him on a pedestal, and he didn’t even appreciate you.”
Kaia smiled bitterly. “If we could control who we fell for, there wouldn’t be any heartbreak left in the world.”
“Ugh, true. I’ve had my share of blind spots with men too. But here’s what I’ve learned: the destination matters, but so does the journey. Your first love isn’t the only one that counts; every love matters. Chin up, Kaia. There’s a whole world of amazing things waiting for you out there.” Celine comforted her gently.

Chapter 426
Hearing those words felt like a weight lifting off Kaia’s chest. She nodded. “Yeah, I just have to keep moving forward. The best is yet to come.”
“That’s the spirit! Don’t let some jerk ruin your life. Always look ahead.” Celine was thrilled that Kaia was finally embracing her philosophy.
Kaia stayed at Celine’s studio until around nine–thirty before driving back to her apartment.
When she pulled into the underground parking garage, she noticed a familiar black Bentley parked in the adjacent spot, its engine cut. Spotting Kaia’s car, Dexter turned to the back seat. “Mr. Sanders, Dr. Chavez is back.”
