Whats She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 448

Chapter 448

As soon as Elaine left, Finnian called Dexter into his office.

Dexter walked in to find Finnian standing by the window, an unlit cigarette pinched between his fingers. Dexter’s heart skipped a beat. His boss had essentially quit smoking the day Brynlee was born. For him to even hold a cigarette meant his mood was catastrophically bad.

I need you to do somethingFinnian paused, turning to face him. Go buy a new dress and deliver it to Kaia’s clinic.

Dexter was taken aback. Mr. Sanders, I have no idea what size Dr. Chavez wears, and I definitely don’t know her style.”

Finnian froze, then snapped the cigarette in half. The loose tobacco fell through his fingers onto the floor. He bent down, picked it up, and tossed it into the trash can. I’ll buy it. You deliver it.

Understood!Dexter nodded.

There were several highend luxury boutiques right across the street from The Sanders Tower. When Finnian and Dexter walked in, a saleswoman rushed over with a bright, welcoming smile. Sir, are you looking for a gift for your girlfriend? We just got the new season’s collection in.”

It was painfully obvious that Finnian had never bought clothes for a woman before. He stood rigidly in front of the racks of colorful dresses, his jaw clenched tight, and shot a desperate look back at Dexter.

Dexter shrank back immediately, terrified his boss was about to ask for advice. The clothes he bought for his own girlfriend were nowhere near this expensive, and besides, every woman had different tastes.

Finnian’s eyes scanned the racks back and forth, back and forth. Finally, he stepped forward. He vaguely remembered that Kaia preferred elegant, understated styles with soft colors. He pulled a mediumsized dress off the rack and handed it to the saleswoman. I’ll take this one.

The saleswoman smiled warmly. We also carry a line of intimate apparel from our sister brand. Would you like to take a look, sir?

Finnian paused, turning to look at the display. He had no idea where his mother’s coffee had landed. If it had soaked through and ruined Kaia’s lingerie, she would need a replacement for that too.

Dexter was already fighting the urge to laugh. His boss had absolutely been completely clueless when it came to romance. He had never even bought clothes for his wife before, which was why he looked like a total amateur right now.

Thinking about it, it completely made sense why Dr. Chavez was leaving him.

Seeing Finnian stand there for two full seconds, Dexter was certain he would decline. Lingerie was far too intimate, there was no way a man like him would buy it.

Just as Dexter solidified that thought, Finnian moved.

He walked straight over to the lingerie display and pointed at an off white bra Get a large.

The saleswoman immediately took it down and asked, Would you like to make it a set? This line comes with matching pieces.

No. Ring it up,” Finnian ordered coldly.

After paying, Finnian handed the shopping bag to Dexter. Get this over there right now.

Dexter grabbed the bag, practically jumped into his car, and sped toward the clinic.

Finnian headed back to his office. Standing in the elevator, the image of Kaia drenched in coffee flashed through his mind.

Facing his mother’s hysterical rage, what kind of expression did Kaia have? Most likely, she had remained completely indifferent. Or perhaps she was just incredibly disappointed, realizing once again just how toxic the Sanders family truly was.

Once back in his office, Finnian picked up his phone and dialed her number. It rang out, eventually going to voicemail. He didn’t try again, assuming she was busy with patients.

Instead, he sent a text message: *Kaia, I’m sorry. I apologize on my mother’s behalf.*
