Chapter 473
Before the waiter could finish, a loud, childish voice rang out.
Immediately after, Noelle noticed a pair of polished men’s dress shoes. She slowly lifted her head
Finnian was standing right in front of her, holding Brynlee in his arms
“Finnian,” Noelle murmured, reaching for the handrail to slowly pull herself up.
He looked at her, then down at her foot. “Did you twist your ankle?”
She immediately lowered her head, her voice soft and vulnerable. “It’s nothing. I just took a bad step. I was upstairs having dinner with some friends. We finished, so I was just heading out.”
“Aunt Noelle, aren’t you pregnant? You need to be careful! Watch where you’re walking,” Brynlee piped up, her small face a picture of innocent
concern.
Noelle offered a pale, fragile smile, casting a pitiful glance at Finnian. “I’m alright. Are you guys…”
“Kaia and I brought Brynlee here for dinner. We’re done and getting ready to leave.” As he spoke, Finnian pulled out his phone and made a quick call, instructing Dexter to come upstairs.
Hearing him make that call sent a chill straight through Noelle’s heart.
“Dexter will take you home,” Finnian said flatly. “I need to go settle the
bill.”
Brynlee wrapped her little arms securely around her father’s neck, resting her chin on his shoulder as she waved. “Bye, Aunt Noelle!”
Noelle’s eyes widened, a hot surge of resentment bubbling up inside her.
At that moment, Kaia walked over, carrying her own coat and a tiny pink

jacket for her daughter..
“Kala…” Noelle greeted her, feigning warmth.
Kaia didn’t even look at her. Without a single word of acknowledgment, she walked straight toward the cashier.
It felt as if a bucket of ice water had been dumped over Noelle’s head. The silent dismissal was deeply humiliating.
Just then, Heather’s voice echoed from behind. “Noelle? Why are Mr. Sanders and Dr. Chavez eating here too?”
Realizing Heather had witnessed the whole exchange, Noelle felt a fresh wave of embarrassment. Scrambling to compose her expression, she replied, “I have no idea. I just ran into them when I got downstairs.”
Heather walked over, noticing the angry red flush on Noelle’s right ankle. “Oh my god, what happened? You’re hurt! Why isn’t Mr. Sanders rushing you to the hospital?”
Noelle’s face burned, the flush spreading to her neck. Of course, she wanted him to-she had orchestrated the entire injury specifically to win
his sympathy.
“Miss Sanders, the boss asked me to drive you home. Can you walk?” Dexter materialized before them, his face fixed in a polite, professional
smile.
“I’m fine. I can manage,” Noelle forced a smile, her tone dripping with manufactured gratitude. “Thank you, Dexter.”
Heather’s eyes widened in disbelief as she tugged on Noelle’s sleeve. “Why didn’t he come help you himself?”
Noelle shook off her hand, her voice stiff. “He’s holding Brynlee. He has his hands full. Besides, it’s just a minor sprain. I’ll put some ointment on it when I get home.”
Heather wasn’t stupid. She had seen through the convoluted dynamic

between them ages ago, and a knowing smirk tugged at the corner of
her lips.
She had known Noelle for years. While men might be blind to
manipulative tactics, women possessed a sixth sense for spotting a classic damsel in distress act.
As far as Heather was concerned, Noelle was entirely too greedy.
She was married to Rafael, yet she dared to set her sights on Finnian? Did she honestly think she was some irresistible goddess that every man was obligated to worship?
Watching Noelle get taken down a peg filled Heather with a deep sense of schadenfreude. They were only surface-level friends, and she certainly didn’t wish Noelle any genuine happiness.
Leaning heavily on Dexter’s arm, Noelle limped out to the parking lot. Though she had driven her own car, she ultimately climbed into Dexter’s
vehicle for the ride home.
