Whats She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 95

Chapter 95

Sophia’s expression shifted awkwardly. She glanced at Kaia in the rearview mirror, noticing how tense her sisterinlaw looked.

Kaia, maybemaybe Leo has a point. You really might want to think about it,” Sophial offered gently.

Staring blankly out the window, Kaia replied, I don’t want another child. No one can change. my mind.

Kaia, now isn’t the time to be stubborn! Do you have any idea what people are saying out there?Leo’s anxiety spiked. His sister was incredibly intelligent, but right now, she was acting completely oblivious when she should be fighting tooth and nail.

Leo, what did you hear?Kaia remembered Celine mentioning how notorious Noelle had become since taking over Aethelstan. Her brother and sisterinlaw ran in circles that brushed shoulders with high society; they must have heard the rumors.

Even if we try to ignore it, the gossip is everywhere. Finnian’s widowed sisterinlawLeo stopped himself abruptly, snapping his mouth shut.

Sophia checked Kaia’s expression again. Even though Kaia looked calm, hearing rumors about her husband and his sisterinlaw had to feel like a knife to the chest.

Alright, Leo, that’s enough. I don’t believe those rumors for a second. It’s obviously just some malicious people trying to mess with Kaia’s head. What kind of homewrecker is that highprofile? If there was really something going on, they’d hide it better,” Sophia reasoned, clearly a sharp woman who saw the logic behind the chaos.

Leo paused, his panic fading into relief. Wait, so you think the rumors are fake?

Obviously. Do you know who Finnian Sanders is? If he was actually involved with her, he would have locked down the situation long before anyone found out,Sophia declared confidently.

Listening to them, Kaia let out a cold, internal laugh.

They even went to the hospital together for checkups. That definitely counted as locking down the situation.

Noelle wanted to give him a healthy baby, and he had silently agreed to it. If his heart was already given to someone else, why did he keep pretending to be such a devoted father? It was pure hypocrisy.

Kaia, say something! Stop leaving me hanging!Leo was practically sweating. His company could survive for a lifetime off the scraps of The Sanders Conglomerate. If his sister lost her status as Mrs. Sanders, his access to those resources would vanish.

Ultimately, he was fighting for his own bottom line.

Kaia looked at her brother. I don’t have much to say. But if he really is cheating, I’ll divorce

him.

The word divorcehit the car like a bomb. Leo and Sophia were stunned.

A dead silence filled the vehicle for several seconds before Leo went red in the face. Kaia, you can’t divorce him! You can’t just hand everything over to the other woman!

Leo, I am not going to swallow my pride and beg for scraps just to maintain a lifestyle. Your know me better than that,Kaia replied, her voice tinged with exhaustion.

Looking at his brilliant, fiercely proud sister, Leo could only sigh.

It was true. Kaia was talented enough that she would be highly respected and successful anywhere she went. Even without the Sanders name, she would have plenty of incredible opportunities.

Sophia was also shocked, but for a different reason. She couldn’t believe Kaia had thrown out the word divorceso easily.

Even though Sophia’s family was welloff and Leo’s business was doing okay, she would never dare casually mention divorce.

The Sanders family was the peak of the pyramid, a place other women would kill to reach. Yet, Kaia was ready to walk away without a second thought.

Kaia, I rememberyou had a crush on him for years before you guys got married. Do you not love him anymore?Leo suddenly asked, still trying to process everything.

The question pierced Kaia’s heart. It was exactly because she had loved him so much that they got married. And this was how it had ended up.

Everyone gets married because they’re in love. But people change. How are you supposed to know if you’re marrying a good man or a monster?Sophia snorted, pointing a finger at Leo. You better watch your step, buddy, or I’ll kick you to the curb one day, too.

Leo immediately switched to damage control, smiling nervously. Sophia, you know me! Even if a supermodel stood in front of me, I wouldn’t blink

You’re the only one for me.

Sophia crossed her arms and looked away, unimpressed. The only thing you’re good at is sweettalking. You’re useless at everything else.

Hey, that’s a personal attack!Leo turned bright red, thoroughly roasted by his wife. Sophia smirked. She loved tearing him down just to watch him scramble to defend himself.

Watching their dynamic, Kaia felt a pang of longing. They had been together since college. Even though they bickered constantly, their bond only seemed to grow stronger.

There were millions of couples in the world, and every single one had a different dynamic.

What about her and Finnlan?

From the very beginning, their relationship had been built on polite, distant respect. She had loved him fiercely and quietly, but Finnian had always maintained a polished, untouchable barrier between them. How had she survived six years of a marriage like that? Kaia couldn’t even remember. She didn’t even know when her burning, passionate love had finally burned out and turned to ash.
