She looked around but didn't see Jonathan anywhere, so she asked the young nurse, "Have you seen Mr. Fullbuster?"

Hearing her address toward Jonathan, the nurse gave her a surprised look before replying, "Mr. Fullbuster woke up early and cooked some soup for the patient. He is with the patient now."

Anneliese jolted at those words. She frowned and regretted that she didn't wake up early enough.

Thinking about it, she hurried her pace and pushed open the door.

However, the chaotic scene she had imagined didn't exist.

Nishay was indeed awake and sitting against the headboard. Though she still looked unwell, she already looked far better than she had last night.

Jonathan stood beside her with a white porcelain bowl in hand. He was stirring a bowl of vegetable soup. His expression was surprisingly calm, even with a faint smile at the corner of his lips.

Hearing footsteps, he looked over and smiled gently at Anneliese.

"Morning…"

Afraid he would follow up with "dear", Anneliese rushed forward and quickly snatched the bowl from his hands. Then, she glanced nervously at Nishay's expression while whispering, "I'll do it. You go out first."

Jonathan didn't argue. "Alright."

However, when she took the bowl, his fingers brushed her palm, lightly scratching it.

The ticklish sensation, combined with the terror of being caught, made Anneliese's scalp tingle. She nearly dropped the bowl.

Only did she shoot him a warning glare, then he withdrew his hand. Then, he turned to Nishay and said, "Grandma, I'll leave some space for you and Anne. Call me if you need something."

Nishay frowned and didn't even spare him a glance as she said coldly, "No need. I don't want to see you. You are not welcome here. Just leave and don't ever come back."

She didn't give him a shred of respect.

Anneliese had never seen anyone speak to Jonathan so rudely. Even back in Halden, when Derek constantly nitpicked and criticized Jonathan, he never treated the latter with this kind of hostility.
