When She Walked Away He Fell Apart (Aurelia and Cassian) novel Chapter 366

Cassian’s throat felt dry. His mind urged him to loosen his grip immediately, yet his body defied reason, clinging with a hungry reluctance to let go.

Aurelia was truly drunk; her body felt weak. Fortunately, someone was holding her up. So she politely thanked the person supporting her. If you could, please help me to the balcony so I can get some fresh air,she said, rubbing her temples.

For the past few days, she had been tagging along with Darren to social events in Grendel City and hadn’t gotten much rest. Now, after drinking, her head was spinning, and she felt awful.

The cold air will only make your headache worse,Cassian said, his voice low. Aurelia’s attention was scattered right now. and with her headache, she couldn’t make anything out clearly.

I’ll get you some honey drink,he said. With that, he helped Aurelia toward a nearby private room.

When Jasper saw Cassian bring Aurelia back, his jaw practically dropped. Just as he wanted to say something, Cassian shot him a look, and he understood. Cassian wanted him to disappear, so he wisely slipped out, not staying to play the third wheel.

The private room was dimly lit. Aurelia leaned back on the sofa, eyes closed, waiting for the dizziness to subside. Suddenly, warmth washed over her eyelids. It was a hot towel.

The towel’s warmth washed away much of her dizziness, and she couldn’t help but sigh. No wonder Jessica’s so addicted to the pretty boy model’s tenderness. He’s really attentive, she thought.

Just as Aurelia started to feel a bit better, Cassian held out a glass of honey lemonade to her lips. She took small sips through the straw and only let go when the discomfort in her stomach settled.

Feeling any better? She heard him ask. Even his voice’s just like Cassian’s. I really must be drunk, Aurelia thought wryly.

How long have you been working here?Aurelia asked, taking the initiative to start a conversation. She thought that talking about something else might help shift her focus, so her mind wouldn’t wander to things she would rather not think about.

As for the topic, after spending so much time with Jessica, she had learned a thing or two about making small talk. But to Cassian, her question made him feel strangely uncomfortable, almost souring his mood. She seems so adept at this, as if it’s second nature to her, he thought.

Not long Cassian replied, his voice low and a bit gloomy. Aurelia realized she really wasn’t cut out for this kind of small talk; she had no clue what to say next.

After a couple more sips of honey lemonade, she blurted out, You not only look and sound like my ex, even your honey lemonade tastes just like his. As soon as she said it, Aurelia instantly regretted it.

Why am I talking about my ex again? Looks like I can’t avoid talking about my ex today, Aurelia thought, feeling annoyed

That’s all because I drank too much tonight. It’s Miranda’s fault for bringing up all that stuff Cassian used to do It’s this model’s fault for looking so much like Cassian, she grumbled inwardly. But none of this is on me, anyway, she told herself.

A moment of silence settled over the private room. Aurelia felt like she had just killed the conversation She was awkwardly thinking about changing the subject when Cassian spoke up again.

You still haven’t forgotten your ex?He finally let the words slip out after fighting a battle inwardly. He both hoped for het answer and yet dreaded it. He even regretted asking the moment the words left his mouth, and wanted to make an excuse and bolt.

However, Aurelia answered way too fast. She didn’t even pause to think before blurting out her answer. I’ve already forgotten about him,Aurelia said, her tone light and casual. We’re living separate lives now; our paths will never cross again.”

She even raised her right hand and flashed the ring on her finger. See? I’m engaged.”

When Miranda showed up in the morning with some hangover remedy for Aurelia, she was surprised to see that Aurelia seemed fine, without the usual postdrinking headache or nausea.

Someone gave me a lemonade and even put a hot towel on my head last night, so I’m not feeling so bad now,Aurelia explained.

Miranda blurted out, Who was it that was even more considerate than I?

Aurelia fell silent. She couldn’t tell Miranda it was the pretty boy who had cared for her. That would totally lead her astray. Aurelia thought to herself. After all, Miranda still believes in fairytale romance.

Just as Aurelia finished her breakfast, Mia came back, looking completely deflated. Have you had breakfast?Aurelia asked.

Mia replied she had already eaten, then raked her fingers through her hair in frustration. Alright, let’s lay it all out.Aurelia didn’t go to the office today; this was exactly what she had been waiting for.

Mia had no clue even where to begin, but today, Aurelia had all the patience in the world to listen to whatever Mia needed to share.

Honestly, this story is pure drama,Mia started. My dad and Herbert’s dad were sworn brothers. They went into business together and made a fortune.

Later, my dad got married and had me. One night, after a few drinks, they decided to arrange a childhood betrothal between Herbert and me.

As their business grew and expanded overseas, once, while they were abroad for business, they were kidnapped. The kidnappers found out the Norman family was loaded and wanted a big payday, but couldn’t tell who was from the Norman family.

My dad ended up taking Uncle Benedict’s, Herbert’s dad’s place, so that Uncle Benedict could escape to the embassy for help. My dad did it partly for the sake of brotherhood, and partly because he didn’t speak Anglian,Mia said, rubbing the corners of her reddened eyes.

By the time Uncle Benedict came back with help, the kidnappers had already killed my dad. My mom fell into a deep depression after receiving the news. For two years, she barely got by, and on her wedding anniversary with my dad. she jumped off a building and ended her life.

Aurelia never knew Mia had such a heartbreaking story. Since they got to know each other, Mia always acted as if nothing could bother her, but she never talked about her family.

Aurelia had guessed Mia might not have any family members at all, so she never asked; she didn’t want to upset her. Who would’ve thoughtAurelia thought, her heart aching for Mia, but besides hugging her, she had no idea what to say to console her.
