Aurelia struck him so hard that her palm tingled from the impact. Yet even that couldn’t soothe the storm of rage and sorrow churning inside her.
Herbert turned his head away, saying nothing. Before long, a nurse pushed Mia out. Aurelia, with reddened eyes, went over and asked the nurse about Mia’s condition.
“She’s still unconscious; family members should stay with her. If anything happens, call the doctor right away the nurse said.
Aurelia’s throat tightened so much that she couldn’t speak. She could only hold Mia’s hands, cold as ice, tightly with both of hers, trying to warm them.
The nurses moved in and out of the room while Aurelia stayed by Mia’s bedside all the time. Herbert was there too, but stayed silent. All Aurelia’s attention was on Mia; she had no energy left for anyone who didn’t matter.
Mia finally woke up two hours later. Aurelia, who had been holding her hands the whole time, immediately noticed the movement and called out, “Babe, you’re awake! Are you feeling any discomfort?”
Mia spoke with difficulty, her voice barely audible, “I’m in pain, feeling cold.” Those were the only two sensations she had right now.
Aurelia kept rubbing Mia’s hands, breathing warmth onto them, desperately trying to warm her up. She quickly called the nurse, asking if they had any hot packs or something to warm Mia up fast.
The nurse brought over some hot packs, but Mia still felt cold. She was wrapped in a thick blanket, with four or five hot water packs tucked inside, and the room’s temperature adjusted to the highest. Yet, Mia felt like she was stuck in a freezer, chilled to the bone.
Aurelia, worried sick, hurried to call the doctor over. After checking Mia, the doctor explained that the anesthesia had messed with her ability to regulate body temperature, resulting in a drop. He also reassured that it was a normal side effect after surgery.
Only then did Aurelia heave a sigh of relief. As she worried that Mia’s body temperature would drop further, she kept ucking the blanket tightly around her.
Mia shivered for quite a while before she gradually settled down. Her face was still deathly pale, without a trace of color. She kept her eyes closed, saying nothing, lying there quietly, but tears continued to trickle from the corners of her eyes.
Even though Aurelia didn’t say anything, Mia knew deep down what she had lost. Seeing Mia like this, Aurelia turned her head, fighting to keep her grief from showing on her face.
‘My sweetie! My sweetie!” Scarlett rushed to the hospital. Her voice echoed in the surroundings even before she appeared in
the room,
Mia, who had kept her eyes closed, finally opened them, hearing the voice. Scarlett pushed the door open and tushed m Seeing Mia’s condition, her eyes instantly welled with tears. “My sweetie, how did you get hurt Tell me, who did this to you I’ll make them pay!”
“Grandma,” Mia choked out, her voice hoarse. She could only utter that one wordt before her throat tightened and she couldn’t speak anymore. Her tears fell even harder.
Scarlett pulled her into a tight hug, soothing her over and over. “It’s alright now. I’m here. I’ll get you the best doctors
After holding it all in for so long, Mia finally let herself break down completely in Scarlett’s arms, pouring put every bit of

pain and heartbreak she had been hiding. She cried like her heart was being torn apart, her vos echoing through the room.
Scarlett, an eighty–year–old grandmother, was totally freaked out by Mia’s breakdown. “Tell me, who trade you wither this? What happened to you? Why are you in the hospital?” she asked.
Aurelia shot Herbert, who had been keeping silent, a cold, accusing glare. Unable to hold back any longer, she finally even out to Scarlett, “She had a miscarriage.”
Scarlett froze in shock. “What? A miscarriage? How did this happen?”
“Ask your grandson, Aurelia said sharply.
Scarlett was an experienced woman; she immediately understood the meaning behind Aurelia’s tone. She span art and fixed her gaze on Herbert. “Explain to me. What really happened?”
“I’m still investigating, Herbert replied.
“Investigating? Or just trying to hide the truth? When you called Mia over, she was fine. So how did she end up on the Soor and lose the baby just like that?” Aurelia snapped, her frustration boiling over as she confronted Herben.
“That was your kid, too,‘ she thought. ‘How can you be so damn cold? How can you merely stand there as if it’s none of your concern?‘ Aurelia fumed with disbelief.
Herbert tried to explain, “After we talked, she left. I really have no idea what happened after that.”
“Honestly, I didn’t even know she was pregnant,” he added.
“You…” Hearing his words, Scarlett was so furious she could barely speak. “You’re such a bastard!”
“Sweetie, can you tell me what happened?” Scarlett turned to Mia, her voice gentle but firm. Tll stand up for you!”
Mia was still choking back sobs. “I was on my way back to look for Aurelia when someone suddenly shoved me from behind. I fell down the stairs, and then everything just went black.”
“It was Leonie!” Aurelia snapped without hesitation, not even for a second.
Scarlett froze for a moment. “Leonie?” Aurelia told Scarlett everything that had happened today, including how Leone had been targeting Mia and creating trouble for Mia.
Scarlett was barely holding back her anger as she called out to Herbert, “You, come with me!
Then she gently reassured Mia, “Sweetie, just rest for now. I’ll be back soon to accompany you
After the grandmother and grandson left, Mia’s sobs gradually faded, and she began to calm down. Her eyes looked blank, as if her life had been drained out of her.
Aurelia used a warm, damp towel to gently wipe Mia’s red, puffy eyes from crying. Mia gripped Aurelia’s hand, her voice hoarse as she said, “Aurelia, I want a divorce. I don’t want to wait for the contract to end.”
She wanted to sever all ties with Herbert, immediately and for good. She was determined to rip him out of her world, to erase every trace of him from her life.
Aurelia held her hand tightly and said, “Alright, just focus on recovery. Leave everything else to me
