Since Aurelia was staying at the Keith family’s place, and Mia wanted to gossip about everyone under the sun with her, she tagged along and crashed at the Keith family’s house too.
The two of them asked Zane where he was heading.
Zane grinned. “Obviously, I’m off to the land of soft embraces.”
Mia immediately made a face of disgust.
‘Men, none of them are any good!‘ Mia thought. Men really do think with their lower half!”
When they got back to the Keith family’s place, Leonardo had just wrapped up some counseling with Joey.
Aurelia was pretty surprised to see Leonardo there.
Leonardo explained that he was in Veyport for a patient, and while he was at it, he gave Joey some counseling too.
Aurelia started asking more about Joey’s situation.
Leonardo said Joey’s condition was pretty stable, so he reduced Joey’s medication and was making gradual adjustments.
But he also emphasized that with cases like Joey’s, there was no permanent cure. It’s a lifelong condition he’ll have to
manage.
Aurelia mentioned that whenever Joey was away from her, he had to rely on sleeping pills just to fall asleep.
Leonardo gave a professional explanation.
‘Sleep is one of the most basic human needs, so people suffering from insomnia really go through hell,” Leonardo said. “I had a patient who developed severe sleep disorders because of PTSD.
‘For the first year, he had to be restrained in bed for treatment. As soon as he was released, he’d try anything to take his own
life.
Leonardo spoke about all this in a calm, almost detached tone.
Still, Aurelia and Mia couldn’t help but gasp, chills running down their spines.
Leonardo continued, “People with PTSD are tormented by flashbacks and hallucinations, and anything connected to their trauma can leave them terrified and restless. The good thing is, Joey was really young when it happened, so he doesn’t remember much.
“That means his symptoms are lighter, and therapy plus medication can help. Of course, having a family that cares makes a huge difference.
“I had a patient whose symptoms improved a lot just because his partner was there for him. So, I really recommend you spend as much time with Joey as possible.”
That night, Joey snuggled right between Aurelia and Mia as they slept.
Back in Ashmont, Mia had stayed at Aurelia’s place for a while.
Joey happened to be there too, so the two of them were already familiar with each other.

Plus, Mia was naturally upbeat and her positive energy was contagious, so Joey felt comfortable around her pretty quickly.
After more than an hour of storytelling, Joey finally drifted off to sleep.
Mia let out a long sigh of relief.
Mia had wanted to have some late–night girl talk with Aurelia, but she didn’t want to risk waking Joey, so she gave up on the idea.
With Aurelia busy working, Mia started scrolling through the media using her alt account.
She’d secretly registered this account behind her manager’s back, and picked a username so random and weird that nobody would ever suspect it was her.
Her username was “Purehearted Roach Devours Your Hemorrhoids.”
She did it mainly so her fans wouldn’t be able to track her down.
Because her username was so random and weird, nobody ever followed her.
she’d been on the social platform for three months and still had zero followers.
She hadn’t expected it, but after half a month offline, she logged in and was surprised to see she’d actually gained a follower.
The guy’s username was just as crazy. “Hard Fists, Even Harder Dick.”
And his profile pic was one of those shirtless shots showing off his eight–pack.
Of course, according to internet logic, whatever one was lacking, that was exactly what he used as his profile pic.
o Mia figured this guy had to be a classic fat nerd.
he clicked into his profile to check it out.
de only had one post.
t was a skiing video, but he never showed his face and just made sure to flash the white T–shirt he was wearing under his ski acket.
Not bad, those pecs are pretty impressive!‘ Mia thought.
Even though it could’ve been a stolen video, Mia still left a comment.
After all, if a guy’s showing off his assets, it’d be a shame not to appreciate it.
Mia said. [Looking solid, bro.]
The guy was online and replied almost instantly. [Hey, yellow girl.]
Mía decided to mess with him a little,
She tagged an AI bot in the comments and wrote: [Photoshop his shirt off]
The guy shot back, [It’s an AI bot, not a Superman]
Tsk, just admit you don’t have abs, Mia thought.

She was just about to bait him a little.
But then her phone buzzed with a text from some random number. [Are you in Veyport?]
he had no idea who the number was from and was just starting to get curious.
The sender fired off another message. [It’s Herbert Norman.]
Mia’s interest vanished instantly. She gave him the full block treatment, no hesitation.
Why did he suddenly contact me?‘ Mia grumbled to herself. ‘Seriously, that’s just creepy.’
Mia just turned off her phone and went to sleep.
his charity gala was a huge event, with tons of big–name entrepreneurs and celebrities on the guest list.

Mia had only decided to come at the last minute, so Aurelia invited her to walk the red carpet together with her and Zane.
‘he person running the show was MegaTech’s PR manager, Daphne Craig.
he’d worked with Zofia on events like this before, so she was very experienced.
Vhile Aurelia and Mia were picking out jewelry, Daphne knocked and came in. “One of the artists is refusing to go along with the red carpet lineup we set up. She wants to change it, but honestly, her status doesn’t really justify it.”
Mia asked curiously, “Who is it?”
Leonie Avalos,” Daphne replied.
Tsk, seriously?‘ Mia thought. ‘Small world, huh?‘
Daphne planned to keep working with Leonie’s team, but really wanted to stick to the original lineup.
The reason Daphne came to Aurelia was because Leonie had the Norman family from Northvale backing her.
so she didn’t dare make the final decision without checking with Aurelia first.
But to her surprise, Aurelia said with a calm, almost indifferent air, “Cancel her invitation.”
Daphne thought she’d misheard.
Aurelia continued, ‘Blacklist her. We’re never working with her again.”
Daphne didn’t ask why.
