Every agonizing step she had taken was for this exact moment.
On the morning of the trial, Lemira put on a pristine white dress. She distinctly remembered that the day of the fatal car crash had been her birthday, and her parents had bought her a white princess gown.
Today, she would finally avenge them.
Caleb Sterling drove the car to pick her up from campus.
Stella Waverly and Janice sat on either side of Lemira. Looking at the friends beside her, she felt an overwhelming sense of contentment.
She truly lacked nothing now.
Janice patted her hand reassuringly. "I checked the astrology charts this morning. Today is exceptionally lucky."
Stella laughed. "The Sinclair family is completely backed into a corner; they're renting some tiny apartment now. Mrs. Amelia's ex-husband is taking the stand today to testify that she hired the hitman. With his testimony, that woman is going straight to prison."
Lemira looked surprised. "But if he testifies, won't he implicate himself? Accessory after the fact carries jail time, too."
"The sentence won't be too harsh. As long as the Everhart family stops putting a target on his back, he'll be fine once he gets out. It beats living on the streets."
Lemira looked at Stella, connecting the dots. Orion had likely orchestrated a plea deal with Wade.
At this point, Wade was desperate enough for money that he'd agree to anything.
As far as Lemira was concerned, as long as Mrs. Amelia paid the ultimate price for what she did, the rest was irrelevant.
Before long, the car pulled up outside the Lyria High Court.
A sea of reporters and camera crews were already camped outside, desperate to secure an exclusive scoop.
The second Lemira stepped out of the vehicle, the press swarmed like sharks sensing blood.
"Ms. Langston, we heard you recently recovered memories of the car crash. Could you walk us through the details?"
"Ms. Langston, did you purposely seduce Orion Everhart to exact your revenge?"
"Ms. Langston, the Langston family raised the accomplice's daughter while subjecting you to years of abuse. Do your brothers have anything to say now that the truth is out?"
