Rowan watched her walk away, his expression turning ugly. "Why won't she just give us a chance? Things aren't that terrible in this lifetime."
Why?
He just couldn't understand.

After leaving, Lemira immediately called Orion and told him that Amanda knew about the poisoning.
When Orion heard the news, he fell silent for a moment.
He asked, "Where are you?"
"I just left the hospital. I wanted to let you know right away."
After all, Orion needed to handle the logistics.
Orion leaned back in his office chair. "Got it. I'll take care of it. How is her mood?"
"She's much stronger than we expected. Thanks to all the vile things Amelia has pulled lately, Amanda already saw right through her and was mentally prepared."
If Amanda had been hit with all the horrific truth at once, it would have broken her.
Orion chuckled softly. "Thank you for staying with my mom."
Hearing his voice, Lemira smiled faintly. "It's nothing."
Compared to everything he had done for her, this was truly insignificant.
Orion said, "The trial resumes in three days. By then, we'll make sure Amelia pays the ultimate price."
"Yes."
Lemira hung up the phone and rolled down the car window. Once this trial was over, she could finally start her new life.
Just then, Lucian Langston called her.
Lemira only had Rowan's number saved, but Lucian had called her so many times that she recognized the number instantly.
