Evelina felt uneasy, but she forced herself to greet the guests—after all, mingling with high society could only help her future prospects.
Susanna muttered under her breath, mocking, “Sis, just look at how shabby the Langston family is. Flaunting a single villa like it’s something special.”
Sophia managed a faint, bitter smile. “This villa isn’t exactly cheap, you know.”
With the Sinclair family caught in a financial crisis and all their real estate tied up as collateral, if they couldn’t pull through, they might soon lose even places like this. Sophia kept this from Susanna; such news couldn’t be allowed to leak out and cause chaos within the family.
No matter what, today she had to make a good impression on the PZ Group CEO—build a connection, get his contact. If they could secure foreign investment, the Sinclair Group might finally catch a break.
Once Lemira had eaten her fill, she gazed toward the banquet hall, noticing how the crowd kept growing.
Eventually, even Mrs. Waverly arrived.
Aside from the PZ Group CEO, Mrs. Waverly was the most distinguished guest at the event. The moment she entered, the Sinclair sisters hurried over, forming a tight little circle around her and all but ignoring anyone they deemed less important.
Lemira noticed everything, standing off to the side as she, too, waited for the arrival of the mysterious PZ Group CEO.
Before long, Evelina emerged in her wedding gown, accompanied by Asher as they made their way to the entrance—just as a luxury car pulled up outside.
A foreign man got out. He looked like a perfectly ordinary middle-aged Westerner, his features unremarkable in every way.
Evelina smiled and announced, “This is Mr. Mack, the CEO of PZ Group.”
Asher greeted him with a friendly smile, which Mack returned. Everything seemed harmonious on the surface.
Evelina lifted her chin, taking on the air of a proud princess.
She led Mr. Mack over to Mrs. Waverly and personally introduced them.
Both Mrs. Waverly and Sophia lit up with genuine delight—the guest they’d been waiting for had finally arrived.
Asher turned to Evelina. “Go get ready for the ceremony. I’ll keep Mr. Mack company.”
“Alright,” Evelina replied, though she was clearly reluctant to leave. After all, Mack was there because of her, and the attention made her pride swell.
Lemira watched from the sidelines, quietly snapping a photo of Mack and sending it to Orion. They’d never managed to dig up any solid information about the PZ Group CEO before now.
