Lemira lowered her eyes and looked at his hands. "What's your brilliant plan then?"
"Get out of the car and reason with them, obviously!"
A flash of surprise crossed Lemira's eyes. What was the point of reasoning with the Waverlies?
They were desperate for money right now; people like that wouldn't listen to reason.
Orion parked the car directly outside the Waverly estate. "It won't work if you go, but I'm going. They need to know you have me backing you up. If we don't push them to the edge, how will they panic enough to fall for the trap?"
Lemira thought it made sense.
But she had just walked out of the Waverly estate, and now she was going right back?
This time, Orion rolled down his window, implicitly revealing his identity, and drove aggressively onto the property.
Lemira watched his calm demeanor. He truly lived up to his title as the Everhart heir.
Recognizing Orion's car, no one dared to stop them.
He didn't bother parking in the designated area. Instead, he drove straight over the pristine lawn and parked right at the front door of the mansion.
Bodyguards and staff rushed over, staring at Lemira and Orion like they were a massive threat.
But no one stepped forward to say a word.
Lemira took it all in. She turned her head and saw Orion resting one hand on the steering wheel, looking completely relaxed. He didn't look like someone who was here to pick a fight at all.
The sheer confidence of the Everhart heir!
Orion turned his head, catching Lemira's gaze. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"You look like you know how to fight. Did you and Thaddeus Draven get into a lot of brawls back in school?"
An image of arrogant, hot-blooded rich kids flashed through Lemira's mind.
Orion narrowed his eyes slightly. "You're overthinking it."
He never had to get his own hands dirty.
"Right. I heard you graduated from Orvin University, so you were probably a top student."
A wealthy, brilliant, and strikingly handsome guy—he must have been absolutely untouchable in high school.
Deep down, Mrs. Waverly lacked confidence.
After all, Orion was not someone to cross. If he was dead set on backing Lemira, this would become an incredibly thorny issue.
Orion domineeringly held Lemira's hand. "I can't help it. I hate seeing her upset. You'll just have to deal with it, Mrs. Waverly."
Mrs. Waverly was suffocating with anger. He was openly threatening her.
She finally asked, "What exactly do you want?"
Regardless, she was never going to hand Stella over.
Orion spoke calmly. "Where is Stella?"
"I don't know. If you're so capable, Mr. Everhart, search the place yourself!"
Orion squeezed Lemira's hand, signaling her to stay calm.
He looked at Mrs. Waverly. "That would be illegal. We'll just sit right here and wait."
