Lemira let Orion lead her to the sofa, sitting down beside him.
Honestly, she could never pull off something this brazen on her own.
Yet Orion was perfectly composed, acting as if he owned the living room.
Mrs. Waverly ground her teeth. "Waiting here won't do you any good."
Orion gave her a meaningful look. "I wouldn't be here if it didn't."
Mrs. Waverly fell silent. Had Orion found out something?
She stormed off. "Suit yourselves."
Once she was gone, Orion looked at the nearby butler. "Bring us some juice and fresh fruit."
The butler hesitated but complied.
He was the Everhart heir, after all. Basic hospitality was mandatory.
After the butler left, Lemira leaned in and whispered, "This wasn't part of the plan."
"Plans change."
Orion glanced at her. "We can't just use brute force, but we can't let them get too comfortable either. Don't you have Auntie Felipa's contact info? Tell her to make her move."
Lemira nodded. "But she'll probably hear we're here soon enough. Gossip about us shamelessly crashing their living room will spread fast."
Sure enough, Felipa appeared not long after.
But the moment Orion saw her face, a flash of wariness crossed his eyes. Why did she look so much like that fake sister, Evelina Sterling?
Lemira gave his hand a gentle tug. She had the exact same reaction the first time she met her.
But with eyes watching them, they kept quiet.
Felipa sat on the sofa, looking incredibly pale. "I came to tell you... Stella doesn't want to see you."
"You're taking this too far! This is despicable!"
Felipa's face flushed with anger, though she still looked completely fragile.
Mrs. Waverly always despised women like her. She sneered, "You didn't think it was despicable when you became my brother's mistress?"
Asher chimed in, "Just sign the papers. You'll get every cent you were promised. And you don't need to worry about Stella; I'll take full responsibility for her."
Although he had to resort to threats, since he was taking Stella's inheritance, he fully intended to provide for her.
Felipa lowered her head in silence for a moment, looking entirely resigned. "Fine. I'll sign."
She pulled out the contract she had prepared in advance. In their desperation, neither Mrs. Waverly nor Asher bothered to check the fine print.
Watching them, a cold gleam flashed in Felipa's eyes.
They took the bait.
