When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 992

Sebastian raised an eyebrow. "Correction. I'm the lawyer hired by Ms. Langston, not your family's personal retainer. Don't flatter yourself."

Asher exploded. He had heard rumors about Sebastian's notoriously difficult reputation, and now the man was living up to every word of it.

He glared at Lemira. "Are you seriously letting this arrogant punk handle your case? You'll lose before you even know what hit you."

Lemira met his gaze. "That is my business."

She turned to Sebastian. "Let's go."

Sebastian glanced at the Langstons, then looked back at Orion, giving him a mocking little wave goodbye.

Orion's jaw clenched, his frustration mounting.

He was starting to regret hinting for Lemira to hire Sebastian. He should have just sent Mr. Alfred instead.

At that moment, a heavily pregnant Evelina looked at Orion and spoke in a sickeningly sweet voice. "Mr. Everhart, please don't take it to heart. That's just how Lemira is."

Her words drew everyone's attention.

Orion's expression remained icy. Without so much as a glance in her direction, he turned and walked away.

An awkward silence fell over the room.

Scrambling to save face, Evelina quickly explained, "I was just trying to smooth things over for her. I didn't want him to get the wrong idea. I didn't mean anything by it."

Lucian's eyes dripped with contempt. "Save your breath. We only fell for your lies before because we trusted you. Do you honestly think we're blind to your little tricks now?"

Asher's tone was equally cold. "Even if Orion were blind, he still wouldn't look twice at you. Even if he and Lemira broke up, you'd never stand a chance."

Lemira being with Orion was highly beneficial for the Langston family.

They absolutely couldn't let Evelina ruin it.

Resentment flashed in Evelina's eyes. "But Lemira cut ties with the family a long time ago."

"She is still a Langston. When she marries Orion, she'll invite her brothers to the wedding. We are her family. Blood ties can't be severed."

Asher looked at Evelina with pure disgust. "Someone like you could never understand that."

Lemira left with Sebastian, settling into the passenger seat of his car.

She glanced around the interior. It was exactly the kind of flashy, top-tier luxury ride that suited his arrogant personality.

As he pulled away, he asked, "So, what do you think of the ride?"

Lemira nodded. "Very extravagant. It smells like pure wealth."

Sebastian chuckled dryly. That didn't exactly sound like a compliment.

"Where are we going?" she asked.

"I'm treating you to a spa day and a massage."

Lemira looked at him in confusion. "Are you saying the evidence is hidden at Blue Velvet Spa?"
