Chapter 74

Alpha Emris.

“Pack it all.” I command the staff.

Demetra perched quietly beside me on the couch after I just rocked her world. Wait… she’s been awfully quiet since that. Was that her first time getting oral? With all those Alphas she’s had, she acted like a total amateur…just like I remember. She’s been silent now, eyes wide like a good little girl whose world just cracked open to pleasures she never knew.

“Staff’s loaded the bags in the car. Ready for dinner?”

Demetra blinks, still dazed. “Um… yeah. Yes.”

“What? Your parade of Alphas never tasted you? What kind of pathetic males were they, leaving a feast untouched?”

Her eyes roll….classic.

“Your ego’s bigger than your damn head, Emris.”

I laugh it off, but deep down, I could skip dinner and devour her again. Five years ago, I was too mighty, too alpha to kneel for any woman to give her pleasure….it was beneath me, I thought.

I could have explored this with her years ago. I wanted to….it was natural as she was my mate. But Demetra was already so in love with me, and every time I claimed her, I knew I was still going to keep her a secret. I didn’t want to ruin her further. Didn’t want to make it even more impossible for her to let go of me when the time came.

But now…every trick in my arsenal’s coming out to win her back She stands, smoothing her dress, but I catch her pinky finger trembling. I grin….not just her delicious taste, but how goddamn beautiful she looked, all flushed pinks and whites between her legs. I want more than that body, though. I crave our banter from before the dressing room, her laughing at my jokes, rolling those eyes again.

“Truth or dare.” I rise up and say.

“Again?”

“Am I the first?”

“F…first what?” she stammers.

“To kiss you… there.” Her heartbeat thunders and it’s answer enough for me.

“Guess I am. Just so you know, I marked you there too.” I smirk, trolling out first to let her breathe.

When I get outside, I lean against my car with my arms crossed waiting for my angel as Milo likes to call her. She emerges in that yellow dress…gorgeous, petal-soft, hugging to curves that weren’t there years ago. Her body has changed.

Motherhood sculpted her into pure Aphrodite. Moons….she musve been a vision pregnant with Amira. I think back to the timeline, to how close those dates were to when we were together, and regret curls in my gut like smoke.

Amira could’ve been mine. I’d have pampered Demetra through every midnight craving and swollen ankles. I could have held her hand in labour. I could have been there through the postpartum haze, learning how to be a father while she learned to be a mother.

Elena and I had no romance, but I was a solid husband. Took Milo for twelve-hour shifts…breastfeeding breaks, burping, sleepless 3am…the works. Hope Demetra didn’t do it all by herself.

“Shall we?” I unfold my arms.

For dinner, I planned an intimate spot. Slade’s pack owns the hot venues; can’t risk us being in the middle of gossip, surrounded by people who might recognize us. I don’t want Slade coming to ruin what we’re building.

If Demetra finds out that I now own their territory…that I’m technically the one holding her brother’s leash-it would shatter everything.

I want to fight for our bond. I want to pull her close and never le go. But I don’t want to do it at the cost of losing the answers I’ve been hunting for years. The truth about my father’s death is buried somewhere in the ground she walks on, and I need to unearth it without her realizing I’m digging.

So I’ve decided that I’m Alpha fucking Emris.

I will get both.

“No freaking way!” Demetra’s bright chuckle rings out so I know I’ve nailed it. The path’s rocky, so I descend the steps first, then extend my hand. She takes it; I yank her to my chest, but instead of dropping her, I press a kiss to her forehead. She smiles shyly, melting me a fraction.

The yacht gleams under the darkening sky…I call it the quarter-million-dollar beast of sleek white curves and teak decks, floating like a private palace on sapphire waters. Strong floodlights bathe the massive platform in golden glow, illuminating plush chaise piled with cushions, a bubbling hot tub, and a fully stocked bar. Soft sultry jazz pulses from hidden speakers with waves lapping the hull while stars begin twinkle overhead like scattered diamonds.

“Emris.” She hugs me tight, and I freeze….didn’t see that coming I’ve been pulling out all the stops to blow her mind, but… her hugging me like I’m something she wants to hold onto?

My heart softens to smithereens.

“This is so, so beautiful.”

“Glad you approve.”

“So…you own a beach, now own a yacht?” Her sass sparks.

I chuckle, “Come here.” I lead her aboard via the gangway unto the deck’s that’s scatted with pillows for lounging amidst fairy lights.

I leave her there to explore while I step inside the cabin for drinks. The chefs and staff have prepped everything as ordered. Unlimited feasts, fresh robes, towels. We’re overnighting, no question. I pour crisp champagne, then return to find her barefoot, heels kicked off as she gazes at the water.

Demetra turns at my steps with laughter lighting her face and wind tousling her hair.

“This is the prettiest thing I’ve seen since stepping foot in this freaking city,” She says, reaching for a glass and draining it in one go. I do the same with mine.

Demetra jumps closer to me, hand on my waist. “Look, look!”

“Hmm?” I pull her flush, nuzzling her face as she points.

“I think I saw a dolphin-or was it a crocodile?” She squints so I urst out laughing.
