Two days later,

Alpha Emris.

Silver looks up from the bag of chips he’s halfway through demolishing, like I haven’t just said something that could rip my chest open.

“How did she know that if your wolf gets weakened, she can maneuver and pull a rejection out of you?” he asks.

“I must have told her.” My jaw tightens. “Years ago.”

“Do you have any idea when it’s going to happen?”

“No.” I pace to the window, staring out at nothing. “That’s why I sent Jacob. He hasn’t heard anything happening in their pack. He said it’s been real quiet.”

I drag a hand over my mouth and pace harder, my pulse beating so fast it’s almost painful. Two days of silence from the Lion Pride Pack. I let them keep access to the farms because I promised her I would, and in return she asked me to reject her…then turned around and said she’d get married since if I refused.

I tap my fingers against the table, but the real mess is inside me. I’m shaking, angry, scared, and trying not to let either one show. If she bonds herself to another male, it’s going to ruin me. My wolf will take the hit first, and if she calls for rejection after that, it might actually happen.

Demetra doesn’t trust that I’m going to spare her when I’m dealing with her pack. Because of my past records and how I’ve dealt with packs overnight.

She’s seen me not spare Lunas. Not spare Alphas. In the fight to get what I want, I’ve left nothing behind. So she thinks she’s not excluded from it. I guess I have myself to blame.

If she hadn’t said yes in the first place, maybe I wouldn’t be standing here like a madman. If she hadn’t let me hold her all night, if she hadn’t let me watch the sunrise with her, if I hadn’t taken her and Amira to Jurassic World and let myself. imagine a life that felt almost real, I might still be sane.

But I’m not.

Because now I’ve had a taste of it.

You think I’m going to have all that experience? Have little Amira call me Daddy? Have Demetra say yes to being my girlfriend…then allow another fucking geek doctor to get in the middle of it?

“Get up.” I grab my jacket. “We’re going.”

Silver looks up at me from the bag of chips he’s stuffing in his face. “Emris, no.”

His mouth is full, which only makes my temper worse.

“She could be marrying that bastard right now, and I will spend the rest of my life knowing that a bastard geck Alpha doctor is banging my mate!”

“Well, Demetra is beautiful,” he says around a crunch. “I don’t see why an alpha wouldn’t want to bang her. Even a geeky one…they are the freakiest.”

“Stop.” I shut my eyes. “Stop. Don’t even say it.”

Chapter 83

“For all we know, she could already be married.”

“Silver, stop it.”

EG VIZEL

“No, Emris.” He sets the chips down. “You stop it. Perhaps you should have just told her from the very beginning. The way she looked when she walked in…wow. I never knew she could look so vicious like that. She looked set in fucking stone.”

I pace around, looking at my phone, waiting for Jacob to give us a call with an update. He and the others have been watching the territory, waiting for Alpha Seth or someone from his camp to show up, but nothing. No entourage just silence.

And silence is never a good sign.

Any smart person would do the bond immediately. Because I set the interview between our packs for tomorrow, and whatever happens there is going to determine the chaos in her pack. If things go bad, she’ll need support.

Oh I see. That’s why she chose the Irish pack.

Demetra…how smart of you. The Irish pack are too valuable for anyone to casually attack, and that makes them useful in the only way that matters right now. If I decide to come down on her pack hard like a man wolf, she needs a counterweight.

A power strong enough to keep me on my toes and she got it right.

She just became an Alpha’s daughter a few years ago, but she’s already thinking like a world leader.

That should impress me. It does impress me.

It also makes her even harder to lose cause that’s Luna personality.

‘She’s smart for using the Irish Pack, you know?” Silver says, sounding exactly like the thought already burning through my head. “Demetra could have chosen any Alpha, and she picked the one who matters to everyone in this damn country.”

EMRIS!?” Teddy storms into my office.

What?”

I just did a video call with Eden two minutes ago, and in the background, I saw Sabrina!”

My stare sharpens. “Who the fuck is that?”

Alpha Seth’s sister!” Teddy screams at me.

W-what!? But Jacob and his team have been patrolling the area. They haven’t seen Seth or any men from his pack going in.”

Yeah, Teddy says, almost offended by how slow we’re being. “But a lot of vans have been going in, and you thought those vere just supplies from the farm for the pack house, didn’t you?”

My wolf hits hard somewhere between my ribs and my skull. The pieces crash together.

They’re having a bonding ceremony.”

silver throws me my keys, and I catch them with one hand.

don’t walk out of the pack house. I explode through it.

Gammas flatten themselves against the walls as I race. Down long corridor, into the elevator until I hit the driveway at full Alpha rage and head straight for the Panther Express….my Phantom Crimson 900, matte black with red stitching, the fastest
