Chapter 215 Big Bad Wolf

Dad opens the door, and Emily steps inside like she has done it a hundred times.

She takes off her coat first, hanging it carefully near the docx then sits on the bottom stair to unbuckle her boots. I follow after her, doing the sa

Dad closes the door behind us and stamps snow from his boots. “Why don’t you two go and wash up before dinner?” he says, already heading towa

kitchen. “Bring down your dirty clothes, and I’ll get to them tomorrow.”

Emily looks toward me, and I nod in the direction of the stairs. “Come on, Petal.”

She picks up her bag before I can reach it, giving me a warning look when I try.

“I can carry one thing,” she says.

I lift both hands. “I wasn’t going to say anything.”

“You were thinking it.”

I grin because she knows me too well. Then I grab my own bag and follow her up the stairs.

Every step feels

important.

She is going to see my room.

The room I have not cleaned with enough panic because we left in a hurry and came back with an entire bus of restored wolves, emotional baggage, or

stolen mug, and my mate.

Shit.

Did I make my bed?

I think I made my bed.

Did I leave clothes on the floor?

Probably.

Did I leave anything worse than clothes on the floor!

Yelen goes very still inside me. I bet you did.

Shut up.

“Second dop on the right there, Petal,” I tell her, trying to remain calm as she reaches the top of the stairs.

She glances back at me with a little smile, then opens the door and stops suddenly,

She gasps, and I almost run-straight into the back of her. My stomach drops through the floorboards.

Shit. Did I leave out dirty boxers or something?

I look over her shoulder.

And oh, oh no. It is so much worse than underwear.

Sunflowers.

Everywhere.

On my desk. On the windowsill. On the shelf beside my hockey trophies. A few tucked into an old water bottle because I ran out of vases. Some are f

some are half-dried, and one bunch near the window has absolutely seen better days.

There are so many tiny yellow traitors.

Emily steps into the room slowly, looking around before she turns to me. The grin on her face is pure evil.

“What’s all this?”

I place the bags down carefully as I search my brain for an excuse as to why a man like me has decorated his room in flowers.

“Ah.” I run a hand over the back of my neck. “Yeah… Look.”

Her grin grows.

There is no way out of this. Maybe I could jump straight out the window. We are on the second floor, but I would probably survive. Might break an ankl

would be worth considering.

“Theo?” she says, voice full of laughter.

I sigh, utterly defeated.

“They smell like you,” I say, looking at the floor, and I shrug. “I wanted to be surrounded by it.”

I risk looking at her, and see the teasing has melted from her face. Her cheeks have gone pink now, and her eyes are soft in a way that makes my chest fe

Γ too full.

She walks toward me slowly and places her hands on my chest Then she slides them up around my neck, pushing onto her tiptoes, before her lips touch

mine.

When she pulls back, her mouth stays close to mine.

“You’re adorable,” she whispers.

I huff out a laugh, mostly because if I do not laugh, I might melt into the carpet. “I’m not adorable.”

“No?

“No. I’m manly. Strong. The biggest, baddest wolf going.”

She giggles and pats my chest. “Of course you are.”

“I feel like you don’t believe me.”

“I absolutely believe you.” She says with a little more laughter.

I narrow my eyes at her, and she smiles up at me like she knows exactly what she is doing to me.

Then she turns away, picks up her bag, and sets it on my bed. I mourn the loss of her to my arms as I watch her pulling things out. A little makeup brush. A folded shirt. Some tiny bottles of stuff I accept as important, even though I have no idea what they’re for.

She crosses the room to my dresser and begins placing them there, and I stand frozen beside the door, watching her.

She sets her brush down near my deodorant. Moves one of the sunflower jars slightly to make room for her things. Then she turns back to her suitca

Her confidence wavers.

“Oh. Uh.” She motions toward the things she has spread across my dresser. “Is this okay? Sorry, I shouldn’t just…”

I move before she can finish. In two long strides, I am there, scooping her into my arms.

She squeals, hands grabbing my shoulders, and I cut the sound off with my mouth against hers.

Every useless bit of panic in my head finally shuts up because she put her brush on my dresser like she belongs here. Because her stuff does belong th

She melts against me, and I nearly forget we are standing in my bedroom with my dad downstairs and dinner in the oven. Barely.

I pull back, breathing hard and stare into her wide eyes.

“I want you everywhere,” I tell her, and her fingers tighten in my shirt.

“All of your stuff. All of you. I want your makeup on my dresser and your mug on my bedside table. I want your shoes by mine at the door. I want your

clothes in my laundry basket.” I swallow because my voice is getting hoarse, but I want to get this out. I need to. “Hell, even your hair. Shed it everywh

There is not one part of my life where I don’t want you.”

Emily’s face crumples. “Theo,” she whispers.

“I mean it. I want all of you.” I kiss her lips once more and press my forehead to hers.
