Some actor friend finally threw his jacket over me and got me to a back room.
He poured me coffee and stepped out to make calls.
‘m holding this steaming mug but I feel frozen inside.
Suddenly, door slams open.
axon storms in, face twisted with rage:
What the HELL was that wedding dress about?”
Trying to trap me? YOU broke up with ME, remember?”
Or wait–having second thoughts now?”
stare at this guy like he’s a stranger. Hard to believe this is the same person who was begging me to take him back two weeks ago.
YOU sent those texts about getting back together! YOU sent that dress-”
He cuts me off:
Jesus Christ, Brenna. There’s a limit to psycho.”
Thought you were cooler than this.”
‘Didn’t peg you for one of those clingy exes who can’t move on.”
All that hurt just explodes. I throw my hot coffee right in his face.
He doesn’t even try to dodge. Coffee drips from his hair.
And with it, all the love I had for this piece of shit just… dies.
So when Scarlett comes running in, fussing over his burned face.
When he puts his arm around her and whispers comfort while they leave…
I feel nothing. Just empty.
But Scarlett shoots me this smile before they’re gone.
Sweet and innocent, but totally bitchy.
I know that look-
When I was eight, couldn’t take my dad’s beatings anymore. Saved up for a Greyhound ticket to find my mom.

Chapter 2
Only to find out she’d started over with a new family. Had a daughter my age.
Mom’s reaction wasn’t happiness–just awkwardness.
She ignored my bruises, shoved a hundred bucks at me: “Buy a ticket home.”
Scarlett snatched that money, demanding ice cream.
Then she smiled at me exactly like that–sweet but cruel.
Now I get it. Scarlett sent those reconciliation texts.
Probably the dress too.
She just wanted to humiliate me.
Last year, Scarlett–who looks kinda like me–debuted as “the new Brenna” and immediately got cast opposite Jaxon. Won some
newcomer award.
Only Jaxon knew we were half–sisters.
At first, he couldn’t stand her:
“Babe, that Scarlett chick keeps asking me to ‘run lines‘ at her hotel. Told her hell no in front of everyone.”
“How’s someone THAT bad at acting? She ruined a kiss scene for three hours straight!”
“Did she wear your old red carpet dress on purpose? Total knockoff move.”
He bitched about her constantly:
“When’s this damn movie gonna wrap? She’s driving me insane.”
Until the wrap party when they celebrated Jaxon’s birthday on location-
They were filming in some remote mountains. Scarlett tried making him a cake at a local farm but almost got assaulted.
I saw it trending on Twitter.
Huge photo of Scarlett with messed–up hair, curled against Jaxon’s chest, gripping his hand, looking broken.
And Jaxon holding her, his face full of worry and tenderness.
After that, the complaints stopped.
Instead, he’d trail off mid–conversation, check his phone constantly, smile while texting.
All the signs were there..
And it all happened in two weeks.
Just two weeks.
