At that moment, a suffocating wave of despair crashed over Sloane, making every breath feel like drawing glass into her lungs.
She swayed, barely able to keep her balance.
Logan... were those your true feelings?
It turned out he was no different from the rest of them.
Sloane turned sharply and walked right out of the restaurant.
She took a cab straight back to Valentine Towers.
During the ride, Logan called her several times, but she rejected every single one.
Right outside her door, she ran into Macy.
Macy offered a cheeky grin. "Sloane, you two are really something! The system said you guys went at it seven times in one night. I originally thought you guys were duds, but who knew you were just saving it all up!"
Sloane shot Macy a terrifyingly empty look.
That single glance made Macy freeze in her tracks.
What kind of devastating look was that?
It was utterly devoid of life, a look of total hopelessness, as if she had been discarded by the entire universe.
"Sloane, w-what's wrong?" Macy stammered, suddenly afraid. "Did something terrible happen to you?"
Sloane gave a faint, ghost of a smile, unlocked her door, and firmly shut it behind her.
Macy stood there, utterly confused, an ominous feeling settling into her stomach.
Once inside, Sloane immediately began packing.
She didn't own much to begin with; a single suitcase was enough to hold everything.
Once packed, she headed straight for the hospital's staff dormitories.
But the moment she stepped through the dormitory gates, the security guard called out to her. "Sloane, right?"
Sloane turned to look at the man in his fifties.
He used to call her 'Dr. Sutton.' Now it was just 'Sloane.'
"Can I help you?" Sloane asked.
"Your room has been given to a new intern," the guard stated bluntly.
"Why?" Sloane furrowed her brow in confusion.
