Logan ate at the Garrison Mess Hall today.
The dining hall was packed, so he grabbed his tray and sat down at the first empty seat he spotted.
As a Major, coupled with his naturally aloof and commanding presence, he held a higher rank than everyone else at the table. When he first sat down, a hush fell over the group.
But after a while, seeing that Logan was quietly eating and ignoring them, the men resumed their chatter.
"Cracking a skull open just for dizziness... that's insane. Who's going to dare go to the island hospital now?"
"It sounds too wild to be true. You think it's made up?"
"They say the surgeon is a new female doctor. I walked by the hospital yesterday and saw they did open a new department."
At the mention of 'neurosurgery', Logan looked up.
With a single, sweeping glance, the men beside him instantly clamped their mouths shut.
He set his fork down and asked, "What are you talking about? What surgery?"
Immediately, one of the more eager-to-please men spoke up. "You haven't heard, Major Lennox? A new female doctor at the hospital cracked a guy's skull open just because he was dizzy."
"Is that so?" Logan didn't buy it for a second.
"Everyone's talking about it."
It was a small island, after all. Good news never left the doorstep, but bad news traveled a thousand miles.
Logan said coldly, "If a doctor committed such a severe malpractice, shouldn't she be under arrest right now?"
"Nope, she's still sitting pretty in her clinic. Someone went to check this morning. Said she's gorgeous."
Logan's tone darkened. "Don't spread unverified garbage. I know the director over there. He would never let something like that happen under his watch. Keep your mouths shut!"
Since Logan had issued a direct warning, no one at the table dared utter another word about it.
Logan thought to himself that it was time to pay Walter Lucas a visit.

Sloane felt that for the past two days, an unusual number of random people had been loitering outside her clinic.
