Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 176

Sloane gave a small nod.

Without a word, Logan drank the rest of her leftover soy milk.

Sloane was speechless.

Did the man not care about sharing germs at all?

"Is your throat too sore to talk?" Logan asked.

Sloane didn't answer.

Even if her throat wasn't burning, she had zero desire to talk to him right now.

She had been so determined to draw a clean line between them, and then this disaster had to happen.

"Since you can't talk, you can just listen," Logan said softly. "I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about the two of us."

Sloane's heart skipped a beat, and she looked up at him.

What was he going to say?

"I've realized something," Logan continued, his gaze intense. "Before you overheard what I said that day, you did care about me."

Sloane stared at him.

Was he seriously this arrogant?

"Otherwise, you never would have slept with me," he stated matter-of-factly. "So, I am going to take responsibility for you."

Sloane instinctively raised her hands to cover her ears.

Take responsibility? Was that all this was to him?

Just a husband fulfilling his transactional duty to his wife.

Logan sighed when he saw her cover her ears. "If you don't want to hear it, I'll stop talking."

Sloane thought he was actually going to drop it.

Instead, he added one final thought. "If anyone treats you poorly from now on, you come straight to me. Or, if you want to go back to Capital City once you're fully healed, I can easily arrange a transfer for you."

Sloane fell silent.

He was right. With his rank as a Major, transferring her back home would be effortless.

But considering the bizarre twist of fate that had dragged her to this remote island, didn't it mean their story wasn't quite over yet?

Despite all her years of science and logic, Sloane was suddenly finding herself believing in fate.
