Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 201

Danielle looked up, her lips twitching slightly. "Why not? I admit we had our differences, but can't you give me another chance? Logan, we've survived so many life-and-death situations together. Are you really unable to forgive me just because I went abroad when you were injured?"

The streetlights at the corner flickered with a dim, yellow glow.

The late-night diner was getting ready to close, and the staff were stacking chairs and clearing tables, the clattering echoing in the quiet night.

Half of Logan's face was bathed in the warm light, the other half hidden in shadow.

Through the dim glow, Danielle heard Logan's voice clearly. "Danielle, I'm married."

"Married?" Danielle stared at him in utter disbelief.

It sounded like a complete fairy tale.

"Logan, even if you don't want to get back together, you don't have to make up such a ridiculous lie. I don't believe you're actually married."

Logan ignored the accusation and simply stated, "If you don't have any leads, then there's no point in us dragging this out. Goodbye."

He turned to head back to his dorm.

But Danielle blocked his path.

"Logan, tell me you're just lying to me!"

"I'm not lying," Logan said. "Please step aside."

"I won't! Logan, you can say you don't like me anymore, you can say you don't love me, but you can't tell me you're married!"

After dating for so long, he knew exactly how to get under her skin.

Logan pushed past her and walked away in silence.

Danielle didn't chase after him, only watched his tall silhouette disappear into the night.

When Logan returned to the dorm, Sloane wasn't there.

He pulled out his phone and gave her a call.

No one answered.
