Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 215

"Follow me."

Sloane led Danielle into the trauma treatment room.

"Roll up your sleeve," Sloane instructed.

Danielle eyed her with skepticism. "You're making a wounded soldier roll up her own sleeve? I highly doubt your professionalism as a doctor."

Sloane remained unfazed. "When it comes to treating gunshot wounds, I'm certainly not the expert. Would you prefer I call a specialized surgeon over?"

"Forget it, you'll do."

Sloane ended up gently rolling up Danielle's sleeve herself. After carefully removing the field dressing, she exposed the mangled, bloody bullet wound.

The bullet had grazed the surface, taking a chunk of flesh with it and leaving behind a deep, gruesome trench.

A pang of sympathy tugged at Sloane's heart.

It couldn't be easy for a young woman to take on such a dangerous, life-threatening career.

With that in mind, her movements as she sterilized and redressed the wound became incredibly gentle.

Her tenderness made Danielle unexpectedly uncomfortable. "No wonder they say Logan is into you. You've got way more feminine charm than I do."

Sloane asked while applying the fresh dressing, "What exactly is feminine charm?"

"Being delicate. Soft-hearted, I guess."

Sloane shook her head. "You're wrong. True feminine charm is resilience, understanding, and grace. You're incredibly brave; you have just as much womanly appeal as I do."

Danielle was utterly speechless.

Why on earth did an elite female operative like her suddenly feel like a scolded schoolgirl sitting in front of a woman like Sloane?

Looking closely at Sloane as she worked, Danielle noticed her intense concentration. Even with a surgical mask covering her face, her almond eyes shone with a focused light, as deep and captivating as a pair of dark pools reflecting shattered stars.

Every lift of the tweezers and swipe of the cotton swab was guided with absolute precision by those eyes. Even the harsh scent of antiseptic in the room suddenly felt softer.

Once finished, Sloane gave Danielle her instructions. "Try to keep the wound dry. You need to come in for a dressing change and sterilization once a day."

Danielle scoffed lightly. "I'm not coming back. As a commanding officer, I have dedicated medics to change my bandages. I don't need to waste my time running all the way over here."

Sloane wasn't angered by Danielle's attitude. She simply screwed the cap back onto the ointment jar and said softly, "Suit yourself."

After Danielle left, Sloane stared down at the bloody gauze tossed in the trash can.

Danielle had gotten shot while saving Logan's life. What exactly had happened out there?
