"Shameless!" Landon scoffed.
"Not exactly," Lydia chimed in. "The GFA actually respects personal boundaries. I have a friend who was matched with a husband at the Civil Affairs Bureau. He just wasn't her type, so she couldn't bring herself to do the good morning and goodnight kisses. After a year, they opted for artificial insemination and ended up getting a divorce."
Lydia sighed. "Speaking of which, the biggest shock since coming back is seeing how few kids there are now. Last time I was here, the local parks were full of parents walking their toddlers. Now, it's just people walking their dogs. I heard there's only one preschool left in our old neighborhood, and they can't even get enough enrollments."
She then looked brightly at Logan and Sloane. "You two need to have a baby soon! With your genes, your kid would be the most gorgeous baby in the world."
Landon couldn't take it anymore. He stood up and looked at Lydia. "It's getting late. We should go."
"But—"
"If you don't want to leave, I'll let Logan take you home. You seem to be a big fan of his abs anyway."
Lydia quickly backpedaled. "I'm coming! I wouldn't want to bother Logan. He and Sloane need to hurry up and make that baby."
Landon remained utterly silent.

Landon helped Lydia into the backseat of the car before tossing her crutches in beside her.
"Buckle up. I'm driving."
Lydia sat in the back, watching Landon thoughtfully.
As he started the engine, she couldn't help but ask, "Landon, do you have feelings for Sloane?"
The car was just about to move, but her words caused him to jerk the steering wheel. The vehicle shuddered violently and stalled.
"Landon, you really do, don't you?"
Ever since he found out Sloane had gotten married, Landon had been acting incredibly overprotective and deeply dissatisfied with the arrangement.
Especially tonight, with the way he had been constantly locking horns with Logan. That was what gave Lydia the wild idea.
Landon sat in the driver's seat in stony silence, an icy aura radiating from him.
Lydia was stunned. "Landon, Sloane is our cousin. We're blood relatives!"
It took a long time before Landon finally spoke. "I know."
"But when I'm up in the sky, looking down at Earth, it's just a pale blue dot. There are no borders, no visible cities. Humanity is so incredibly insignificant in the grand scheme of things, let alone something like bloodlines.
