Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 118

In truth, she had finished work hours ago, but after seeing the posts on the student forum, she had been overcome with a desire to run away.

She didn't really blame the people on the forum who were flaming her without knowing the full story.

She just felt like a fool.

Because over the past few days, she had actually felt her resolve soften for a moment because of Zebulon's behavior.

He was, after all, someone she had liked for years.

And his recent actions seemed to overlap with the boy who had saved her during the earthquake.

Her obsession with Zebulon was, in reality, an obsession with that boy.

Unfortunately, while that boy had saved her and become her emotional pillar, the Zebulon of today had become the person who hurt her the most.

Naomi truly didn't know how to face it all, so she simply chose to hide.

"Why are you still here? I don't recall the studio encouraging overtime."

Lennon's voice came from behind her.

Naomi turned her head slowly, her reaction sluggish. She saw Lennon looking weary, as if he had just rushed over from somewhere.

She caught the faint scent of alcohol on him and guessed he had been at a business dinner.

"I was just about to leave."

Naomi picked up her bag to go, but she accidentally knocked her phone, sending it clattering to the floor.

"Oh!" Naomi gasped, quickly bending down to pick it up.

But Lennon was faster. He retrieved the phone just as a new message came in, lighting up the shattered screen.

Lennon watched as Naomi knelt before him. Her soft hair fell over her shoulders. She was still so petite and well-behaved, like a little figurine kneeling there.

Her voice was gentle, tinged with a hint of sorrow that she herself didn't seem to notice as she continued to apologize.

"It's fine. It doesn't hurt much."

It was just a few minor scratches; Lennon wasn't going to make a big deal out of it.

Naomi bit her lip, embarrassed. "But you were just helping me get my phone, and I..."

She was mortified.

She had always been good-natured and rarely lost her composure. She couldn't believe she had let the ridiculous forum posts get to her, to the point where she'd taken it out on Lennon, who had only ever been kind to her.

"If you're truly sorry, the least you could do is tell me what's wrong."
