Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 144

Steven sighed and patted Jacob on the back of the neck. “It’s okay,” he said gently. “The fact that he’s coming in today means he’s probably done with his work. There will be other chances.”

Naomi knew he was right, but she couldn’t help feeling disappointed.

“Well, have fun. We’re heading off now.”

Steven and Jacob left.

Naomi walked back into the store, feeling dejected.

Patricia had already changed and come out of the fitting room.

Since it wasn't a red-carpet event, she had chosen a very lively short dress.

The poofy skirt design made her limbs look slender and long, exuding a sense of energy. Combined with her usual tomboyish demeanor, the princess-style dress created a surprisingly soft, charming contrast.

Patricia loved it, twirling in front of the mirror with satisfaction written all over her face.

The sales associate knew her cue and lavished praise on the dress.

Patricia had already made up her mind. Seeing Naomi return, she called her over for a second opinion.

Naomi walked over, looked her up and down, and forced a smile. “It’s beautiful. It really suits you.”

Patricia raised an eyebrow. “I can feel the insincerity from here.”

She didn’t press the issue. Instead, she asked the associate to find a stylist to do her hair and makeup, then pulled Naomi to a nearby seat. “What’s wrong?”

Naomi didn’t hide anything and told her about running into her colleagues.

Patricia sighed. “Is that all?”

“Look, we’ll go to the mixer, and when the time is right, you can just slip out.”

“I’ll call a car for you later.”

Naomi’s eyes lit up. “I can leave early?”

Patricia, who was in the middle of getting her hair styled, jumped to her feet when she saw Naomi. “You look absolutely gorgeous!”

“You look like you’ve stepped right out of a vintage photograph!”

“Naomi, you’re so beautiful!”

Patricia circled her excitedly, chattering away. Anyone watching would have thought she was a groom seeing his bride for the first time.

“Ma’am, why don’t you let us do your styling as well? We have a full set of accessories that are guaranteed to make you the star of the show.”

Before Naomi could say anything, Patricia had already pulled her over to a chair.

“Quick, quick! I can’t wait to see the final look.”

Since she was already there, Naomi couldn't really refuse. She let the stylists work their magic, choosing jewelry and perfecting her look.

When they were finished, the image of a refined, elegant young lady was complete.
