Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 149

Naomi didn’t know how long she had been crying.

By the time she stopped, her throat was so hoarse she could barely speak.

Thinking about how she had just broken down in front of Lennon, she was too ashamed to look up.

She didn’t understand why she had felt so wronged at that moment, or why she had cried so openly. Looking back, she could only conclude that her brain had been waterlogged, and it had all leaked out through her eyes.

Now that the water was gone, she was finally feeling embarrassed.

“I… I’m sorry. Did I waste your time?”

Naomi noticed that the sky was already dark and realized the entire afternoon had passed. She felt even more ashamed.

“It’s fine.”

Lennon glanced at her and handed her a small bag.

“Is this for me?”

Naomi took it, surprised. “What’s in it?”

Lennon didn’t answer. She had already seen the contents of the bag.

Makeup remover wipes, throat lozenges, an ice pack, and a box of soothing face masks.

Her eyes widened. “You bought all this?”

Naomi couldn’t remember Lennon ever getting out of the car!

And he had been so thoughtful as to get all these things!

Naomi was deeply touched. She wouldn’t have even thought of everything he had.

“You should clean up. Is it okay in the car? Or should I take you to a nearby hotel?”

Lennon remained calm throughout, his composure so steady he seemed almost robotic.

She used Lennon’s charger, and as soon as the phone turned on, a flood of calls and messages poured in.

Naomi ignored the messages from Zebulon and his friends and replied to Patricia first.

[I’m okay.]

Patricia called her immediately.

“Naomi, where are you? Why didn’t you come to the mixer?”

Patricia’s voice was shaky, as if she had been crying. She had clearly been terrified.

Feeling guilty, Naomi quickly explained what had happened.

Patricia was furious.

“That Zebulon! How dare he throw a fit? He’s a complete psycho! You have no idea how disgusting he was. He kept asking about you, but he was parading around with Tiffany the whole time. When people asked if she was his date, he wouldn’t confirm or deny it!”
