Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 197

At the police station, the rowdy men quieted down immediately.

Without much questioning from the police, they confessed everything.

"A woman paid us to come find her. She said this girl's family was very rich, and if we could get a hold on her, we'd have an endless supply of money."

Naomi had already suspected as much. Now that it was confirmed, she just let out a cold laugh.

"I want to hire a lawyer."

Naomi had already considered who to call. The Gonzalez family's legal team could certainly help her, but given the relationship between the Gonzalez and Hughes families, she didn't want to ask her parents for help right now.

Finding a lawyer on her own could be tricky, and she was hesitant.

"If you don't have anyone in mind, I can recommend someone."

Naomi looked at Lennon. "Do you have a friend who's a lawyer?"

"I do."

Lennon made a phone call, and soon, a handsome man in a sharp suit arrived at the station.

"What's the big emergency? I just got off work and was about to head home."

"Are you paying me overtime for this?"

The man bore a slight resemblance to Lennon, but the moment he opened his mouth, that impression vanished completely.

It was like a baby-faced guy speaking with a gravelly voice—completely jarring.

"Keep your mouth shut."

"Who's going to be responsible if you scare someone?" Lennon said succinctly.

The two were clearly very close. The man just chuckled at Lennon's jab. "So what if I scare someone? I have to be serious when I'm in court. Can't I be myself after hours? You're stricter than my own father."

"If you want to call me Dad, I won't stop you."

Naomi hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but Lennon was showing a side of himself she'd never seen before, and she couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Her laugh drew both of their attention.

Lennon said without batting an eye, "I took Ron to his law firm to play once. Ron's been talking about you ever since."

Naomi felt that was a bit strange.

But thinking of Ron's cute face, she couldn't help but say, "I miss Ron too. It's a shame I've been so busy lately."

Besides, she didn't really have a reason to visit the Spencer family to play with Ron.

The thought made Naomi a little sad.

Seeing her expression, Lennon felt a pang of regret.

"Ooh, does it hurt your heart? I never thought I'd see the day Mr. Spencer made something up on the spot. 'Ron's been talking about you'... pfft, hahaha, you really came up with that excuse?"

Hearing Dennis, Lennon glanced at Naomi to make sure she hadn't heard. Then he shot Dennis a glare. "Don't want next year's sponsorship?"

Dennis immediately straightened up.

He put his hands together and pleaded with Lennon, "My bad, my bad. I won't tease you in front of her again, okay?"
