Naomi's fingers hovered over the screen. She typed a quick reply—[I'd appreciate your help for the long weekend]—and then blocked Zebulon completely.
On his end, Zebulon was a wreck when he received Naomi's message.
The harsh words from Jonathan and Carter had finally knocked some sense into him, forcing him to confront his true feelings.
Even his parents had berated him after learning what had happened. Zebulon knew he couldn't keep things going with Tiffany.
He had never been that into her anyway, so he agreed to end it without any argument.
"Zebulon."
Tiffany saw Zebulon drinking alone and approached him with a look of concern. "What are you doing?"
"Is something bothering you?"
Zebulon glanced at her and casually tossed a credit card on the table.
"What happened is in the past. I got you out of trouble, so we're even. There's a hundred thousand dollars on this card. Consider it a parting gift."
"From now on, we have nothing to do with each other."
Tiffany's eyes widened. "Zebulon, why the sudden breakup? Weren't we getting along just fine? And you just helped me. I haven't even had a chance to thank you properly."
Zebulon didn't even look at her, continuing to pour alcohol down his throat. His mind was completely consumed with thoughts of Naomi.
"No need to thank me. I never mistreat my women. Take the money and don't contact me again."
With that, Zebulon stood up to leave.
Seeing that he was serious, a sharp glint appeared in Tiffany's eyes. Her fingers lightly brushed over the glass Zebulon had just been drinking from as she reached out to grab his arm. "Zebulon, I don't know why you're doing this, but I respect your decision."
"I really do love you. Can we have one last drink together? As... a farewell to our past."
Zebulon stood there, indifferent.
Tiffany ordered a drink for herself and then handed Zebulon his glass. "Goodbye, Zebulon."
Without a second glance, Zebulon downed the drink in one go.
A faint smile touched Tiffany's lips.
After finishing, Zebulon tossed the glass onto the bar. As he turned to leave, his vision suddenly went dark.
