Wife You Discarded is a Billionaire's Crush novel Chapter 146

"I've already booked us a table," Sylvia continued, capitalizing on her advantage. "That way we can properly discuss Diana's condition."

The refusal died on Cedric's lips. At the mention of Diana Woods, he relented. "Fine."

"See you at noon," Sylvia said, her eyes shining with triumph. He rarely said no to her. It proved he cared. She gazed at the man focused on his work, then turned and headed straight for Timothy's office.

"Assistant Stanton," she began, explaining the situation and handing him a piece of paper. "This is my friend's contact information."

Timothy took a photo of the note. "Of course, Vice President Woods."

"Is Cedric planning to expand into the design sector?" Sylvia fished for information. It was too much of a coincidence that Cedric was suddenly funding a major design competition right after Liliana became a designer.

"I'm not privy to Mr. Forrest's thought processes," Timothy said, looking genuinely perplexed. "Lately, I find it harder and harder to guess what's on his mind."

Sylvia gave him a faint smile and left. Back in her office, the more she thought about it, the more suspicious she became. She immediately called the domestic lead for the AuraRun Design Contest.

"I need you to check if there's a contestant named Liliana. Send me all of her registration information."

With Zephyr Group providing a third of the sponsorship money, the coordinator agreed without question. Ten minutes later, the files for two contestants named Liliana landed in her inbox. The online registration only included their ID numbers, showing their gender and age but no photo. One was thirty-five, the other twenty-five.

Sylvia was certain the twenty-five-year-old was her Liliana.

Nina knew the reservation details and led her directly to a private room at the end of a second-floor corridor. The door was ajar, and the soft murmur of a man and woman talking drifted out.

"Cedric, I really can't live without you. Please don't leave me." It was Sylvia's voice, thick with tears.

Liliana froze. In front of her, Nina stopped abruptly, turning to put a finger to her lips. "Let's not go in. We can wait here."

Through the partially open door, she couldn't see their faces, but she could see the silhouette of two figures locked in a tight embrace under the warm lights. Liliana stared, her eyes fixed on the scene.

"I won't leave you," Cedric's voice was low and soothing. "As long as you stay strong, I'll always be by your side…" He pulled away from Sylvia and gently cleaned her tears with a napkin.
