Cedric had no patience left to argue with her.

He turned and entered the stairwell to his right.

He didn't go downstairs, however. Instead, he pulled out a cigarette and stood in the smoking area, taking slow drags.

Within minutes, Timothy emerged from the elevator and knocked on the stairwell door.

Seeing him there, Timothy immediately came over. "Mr. Forrest, it was Mr. Hale Preston who had an episode. His condition is quite serious."

"What did the doctor say?" Wisps of smoke escaped Cedric's thin lips, shrouding his handsome features.

Timothy sighed lightly. "Dr. Brooks is capable, but Hale's case is more complex than usual. He's afraid to take any risks, worried it might tarnish his professional record."

Some illnesses required taking risks to achieve a cure.

Conservative treatment was safe, but the chances of recovery were slim.

"How is she?" Cedric flicked the ash from his cigarette, his eyes cold and dark.

Thinking of Liliana's state earlier, Timothy felt a pang of sympathy. "Mr. Forrest, aren't you going to go down and see her?"
