You Faked Your Deaths to Punish Me?! That’s Illegal, Family! novel Chapter 42

Chapter 3

I exploded, shoving my phone in Tessa’s face.

“What the hell is this? Delete it right now!”

Tessa jumped, immediately looking hurt.

“Sorry! I just wanted grandma to stop worrying!”

“If you don’t like it, I’ll delete it right now!”

She grabbed her phone and started tapping away. I refreshed Instagram and it was gone.

But I couldn’t shake this feeling that something was seriously off about Tessa.

I just couldn’t put my finger on what.

“Don’t post crap like that again. This is your final warning.”

Then I went to shower and sleep.

Next morning, Tessa was back to being sweet and helpful, even squeezing toothpaste onto my brush.

“Rise and shine! Class registration today!”

Her sudden attentiveness made me uncomfortable, but I couldn’t really complain.

When I went to pick out clothes, I couldn’t find my new dress anywhere.

“Tessa, when you were folding my clothes yesterday, did you see my white dress?”

Tessa paused.

“Oh! That was a dress? It was so short! I thought it was a cleaning rag and threw it out.”

“You’re a young lady – how can you wear mini skirts? What guy’s gonna want to marry you after seeing all that?”

That’s when I realized it wasn’t just the dress – all my shorts were missing too!

I bit back my anger, not wanting another fight.

I threw on a random top and headed to class registration.

immediately swarmed around my Hermès limited-edition bag.

your bag is gorgeous! Is it from the new collection?”

I smiled and nodded, about to answer.

But Tessa cut in front of me, giggling shyly with this patronizing attitude.

“Pretty nice, right? Her dad and I picked it out together in Europe!”

“Though daddy got me this huge diamond ring too – guess I’m still his favorite.”

The girls exchanged confused looks, too shocked to respond.

That’s when it hit me – Tessa really was completely insane!

I should never have felt sorry for her!

“My dad did buy me this bag, but she had nothing to do with it.”

“My dad doesn’t even know her. Don’t listen to her.”

I frantically tried to explain to everyone.

But Tessa just winked at the group calmly.

“The kid doesn’t want you knowing about my situation – she’s embarrassed, you know how it is~”

“Okay, okay, whatever you say, Wren. Let’s grab some food.”

Seeing the increasingly weird looks from my classmates, I knew making a scene would just make things worse.

I swallowed my rage, planning to deal with Tessa back in our room.

But then at the dining hall, she dumped all her vegetables into my bowl.

In front of everyone: “Your dad said you’re a picky eater. I’m gonna make sure you eat right from now on.”

I finally snapped, flipping over my entire tray and screaming at her.

“Are you seriously sick in the head? Once or twice, fine, but now you’re addicted to this act? You actually think you’re my mom?”

“My dad doesn’t know you exist! Pull this crap again and I’m calling the cops to haul you to the psych ward!”

The entire dining hall turned to stare. Tessa looked terrified.

After a long moment, she started sniffling.

“I know you don’t like me, but your dad and I really love each other…”

“Sorry, I’ll just go.”

She ran out crying.

People around me started whispering.

I pulled out my phone to call Dad and tell him everything, but then got a notification from the campus confession page.

[Whose sick ride was that Lambo outside the girls’ dorm yesterday?]

With a photo of Dad’s car.

And the top comment was from Tessa:

С

[My hubby’s! He paid over 40 mil but told me it was only 4 mil – hiding money from me! Already punished him by making him skip dinner lol!]
