One More Chance novel Chapter 182

"Haist! Who would that be? Do you expect any guests today?" I asked in dismay but still let him nibble my neck.

"No, I don't," he replied in a whisper and stopped but then I grabbed his face.

"Then just pretend you're not here and let them ring that bell until they get tired!" I said before pulling and kissing him again.

But it wasn't a few seconds passed when that annoying guest or guests on the other side of the door pressed the bell again.

"Argh!" I complained, annoyed.

"Let's just ignore them," he said with a chuckle.

But here's the bell again.

"Haist! Jesus Christ! Fine, go and find who they are. I'll wait for you here!" I patted him on the shoulder, mentioning him to get up.

"Are you sure?"

"Hmhm," I hummed as I nodded.

"Okay, I'll shoo them away so I can get back immediately."

"Alright, aren't you going to put your shirt back?" I asked as he was about to go to the door... topless.

"Nope, I'm sure this won't take long," he winked and I chuckled.

"Okay, as you say so," I said with a shrug and hook my bra again.

But a few seconds later... just a few seconds after Luke walked towards the door, I heard the voice of a woman.

"Oh, sweet heaven! Why are you topless--- aren't you called?"

I frowned, confused as to who that woman was but when I heard my name...

"I can't find my best friend! Samantha is missing!"

-'Huh!'- A loud gasp escaped my throat and my eyes turned wide as saucers when I finally recognized her voice. -'Jeez! How the hell on earth did I not recognize Jack's voice?'-

I was about to run upstairs and thought of hiding in Luke's room but it was too late as she already walked into the living room and bingo!

"Samantha?"

"Ah-ow!" It was the only thing that left my lips. Tsk. Tsk... it wasn't even a word.

"Oh, for the love of God--- I can't believe you're just here!" Jack exclaimed, her voice vibrating through my eardrums.

"Hi," I slowly turned around with an awkward smile.

"Gosh! Don't you know how worried I was about you? As far as I remember you said, you were just going out, going to the supermarket, buying ice cream, and buying the cake flour that you promised me at the same time!"

"Oh, my God! My ice cream!" I exclaimed loudly as I remembered the chocolate ice cream in my car compartment.

"Huh! Oh, yeah, your ice cream! I was so worried because it's been almost five hours and I still couldn't reach your number! But what I didn't know was that you were here and despite my worries, you were just right here! Of all the places we can think of, I'm really surprised you're here! You're just right here!"

I don't know how many times she mentioned and emphasized the words 'You were here and You were just right here.'

"Uhm... it's just that something came up and... and..." And I don't know what to say.

"Something came up--- oh, really?" She asked, raising an eyebrow and looking at me from head to toe.

And since I felt awkward by the way she stared at me, I turned my gaze to my brother but it was a wrong move because just like his wife, he also has a detective-like look in his eyes.

"Hmm... by the way, I don't want to hear the reason you're here because I think I already have an idea. But what I want to know is that... " She paused and then glanced at Luke. "Why are you topless, Mr. Williams? Don't tell me that it's hot inside your house, because I had just entered and I already feel cold from the high temperature of your air conditioner."

I held my breath when my brother asked a follow-up question not at Luke but at me.

"And why does your hair look like a mess?"
